Nearly half a million health insurance applications have been filed on ObamaCare's enrollment site, the Associated Press reported late Saturday.

However, Health and Human Services (HHS) officials still refuse to disclose how many people have successfully signed up for coverage on the insurance markets.

Without enrollment figures, it is difficult to pinpoint whether the administration is on track to meet its goal of seven million enrollees during the six-month sign-up period.

My question is: If the HHS refuses to disclose, how does the AP know how many have signed up?

The night before the Sunday talks shows where the Obamacare train wreck is going to be front and center and we have the White House claiming “nearly half a million” Americans “applied” for Obamacare. In reality they only took the first step out of four, how they could claim they “applied” is beyond me. They are fully aware hardly anyone was able to make it all the way to the end of the application process before the site crashed on them.

If they have the step one numbers, they have the fully enrolled numbers so why not release them? The obvious answer is because it is comically low from where it needs to be (CBO says 7 million by March).

Let’s play with the numbers:

Half of the White House’s 500K “applied” number are from the state exchanges (another fact they omit). That leaves roughly 250K who took the first step on HealthCare.gov, let’s be very generous and say 30% made it all the way to the end of the process. That means only 75,000 fully enrolled on the federal exchange since it went live on September 30th. In reality it is probably closer to 20% (or less) meaning only 50,000 are enrolled.

Of course “nearly half a million” sounds a hell of a lot better than 75,000 or 50,000

Apparently these numbers are just the people that completed the first step out of four.  You know it's a nightmare of a failure when you are counting quarter of the way finished as a success.

To give you an idea how many signed up, Oregon had 56,000 set up an account on the website....however 0 of them signed up for the actual Obamacare insurance.

Most were sent off to sign up with Medicade, as they didn't make enough money to qualify for Obamacare....and the rest are probably suffering from sticker shock.

The weird thing is you can't just browse the options available. You have to sign up and give all your information first before you even decide if you want the program or not.

Any other place that has products for sale lets you see what you're buying first. Of course the govt wants your payment and personal information beforehand...so they can sell it and use that info against you if they need to.

Sebelius 'will testify' on ObamaCare website woes, Durbin says

A top Democratic senator said Sunday that Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius will testify before Congress about the problem-plagued ObamaCare website, amid a growing call for her to accept requests to testify.

“Ultimately, Secretary Sebelius will testify,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the chamber’s No. 2 Democrat, told “Fox News Sunday.”

Sebelius and the entire Obama administration has declined requests to testify on Capitol Hill about the site, which has been plagued by crashes, slow responses and other glitches since it went online Oct. 1.

Let's be generous and say there are 47 million Americans with no health insurance coverage available or affordable to them.  After all, various numbers have been thrown around and 40-45 million was used at various times by then-Presidential-candidate John Kerry.  This represents only one percent of those uninsured that this law was supposed to save.

I think they are state programs with some federal cash.  That's why a lot of Red states didn't buy into it.  The first couple of years, the feds are supposed to pick up a good chunk of the tab, but after that all bets are off.  The red states were afraid of what was going to happen to their budgets, so they opted to leave it in the feds lap to figure out.

I don't know for sure about the exchange rates but the last time a Canadian dollar was more valuable than the US dollar that I can remember was under...well....a Democrat president, Jimmy Carter.

Enter state, and some other info and you get prices on different plans.
I don't think you get many details on the plans though.

They had a lot to do with the numbers used for uninsured.  A lot of them could afford to get insurance, they just didn't want to spend their money on it.  Pretty typical for a young person to think that way.  I bet they still won't sign up for it and chose to pay the fine.
