Store closings
« on: February 02, 2013, 09:47:28 AM »
Many retail outlets will be closing their stores..

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/eight-retailers-that-will-close-the-most-stores-173320796.html?page=2

Radio Shack, Kmart, and Sears among them....
Walmart is getting very trendy however.....

I am really surprised Radio Shack still exists.......
One thing on one of the comments, which was not surprising

And here is an interesting point about that above...... They dont tell you how many people those stores are going to be letting go.

I'm surprised Radio Shack didn't close down about 5 years ago. Who goes to Radio Shack to buy things?

The last time I was in Radio Shack, they were still selling Tandys and you could actually buy electrical parts.  Now, I think they just sell cell phones.

I go there to get the odd size batteries I can't get at the supermarket, but that's a rare instance.

Most places like Fry's, etc., have a far better/cheaper/better quality than Radio Shack.

B&N is my fault.  I used to go there at least twice a month, and leave with 6-10 books.  I haven't been there since I got my Kindle.

At one time there was a rumor that Walmart was going to absorb Radio Shack, but make it like a store within a store.  That would have been nice.

I used to love Radio Shack as a kid and a young adult.  The only place I could find electrical parts needed in my little inventions.  But heck now I can order 10 for the price that Radio Shack used to sell one.  They still have a little section of electrical components, but nothing like they used to have.  It's mainly Cellphones, GPS's, and small electrical components.

I do, because my store is two blocks from my house.  It is a heck of a lot quicker to pick up a minor little electrical component there, than it is to order it over the interwebnets and wait.

That being said, most of the employees in the store are utterly clueless on the component side of their business.  They do know a lot about cell phone plans, though.  ::)
