Politico talks about his final undoing and why NO ONE stood up for him in congress...Weiner was an a$$hole. He was a bully. Like all progressives, there was something mentally wrong with him.

12 years in congress and not one friend who will stand up for you?

just wish I could post this in DUmmyland.

Wow. the hypocrisy reflected in this article is stunning in its completeness:

Quote
The Clintons, who consider Abedin a “second daughter,” made clear their disgust with Weiner.

Let me get this straight. "The Clintons?" Meaning more than one? Meaning Slick Willie, along with Hillary? Are disgusted with Weiner? AYFKM?

Hey, Slick!  You remember that little foray or two you actually had with Monica? In the Oval Office, with a cigar and what was surely a "happy ending" for you?

And you have the unmitigated gall to be "disgusted" with Weiner for his own reprehensible behavior, that included publicly lying about his tweets and photos and other shit he spread around the innerwebz like the goober dust you spread on Monica's dress?

But wait, there's more!

Quote
...but sources said that the Clintons - who are deeply loyal to Abedin - are distressed by the “sexting” scandal that Weiner immersed his wife in.

Well, here's another job offer . . .

Porn mogul offers job to disgraced US lawmaker

AFP

– Thu Jun 16, 9:25 pm ET

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Porn mogul Larry Flynt offered disgraced US lawmaker Anthony Weiner a job Thursday, after the New York congressman resigned over a tawdry "sexting" scandal.

Hustler founder Flynt said he would pay Weiner, who posted pictures of his intimate anatomy to a number of women on Twitter, 20 percent more than what he earned in the House of Representatives.

"After having learned of your sudden and compelled resignation from your congressional post, I would like to make you an offer of employment at Flynt Management Group, LLC in our Internet group," he wrote.

"This offer is not made in jest. To show our sincerity, Flynt Management Group, LLC is willing to pay 20 percent more than your former congressional salary," he added, also promising to pay medical cover and relocation costs.

He added: "I feel that your unfortunate resignation is a prime example of unfounded political pressure and the hypocrisy that has invaded democracy in Washington DC."

Leave it to Larry Flynt to attempt to "rehabilitate" Weiner.

I'm not defending Clinton, but I think there is a bit of a difference...several differences.

The main one difference....I think, don't know for sure....is something that many people have surmised - or alluded to as fact - for years, and that is Bill and Hillary have some sort of agreement with regards to his fooling around. Theirs is a political team, more than a "love match"...and she either just accepts his cattin' around, or they both do it, but she is much more adept at keeping her liasons private.

If so, Bill's only "sin" as far as Hillary was concerned...is that he got caught. Then lied. And so on. And almost completely destroyed their joint political ambitions. His actions, may have been why she didn't win the presidential nomination and Obama did.

Personally, I don't understand how any married couple can have this type of agreement, but there are many that do.

Huma has a close professional relationship with Hillary, which means that Bill would also know her quite well, and since she is not much older than their daughter....I would think they are reacting not only in a professional manner - especially since Hillary was also being mentioned by the media - or the comedians - everytime Huma was mentioned....but also as parental figures towards Huma. Kind of a "I can do what I do and it's none of your business ( ::) ), but you better not do it to my daughter" type attitude. Add in Huma being pregnant, which I'm sure both Clintons knew, and they are going to react even more negatively towards Weiner. No political person who wants to stay on the Clintons "friend list" is going to defend Weiner.

There's also something about what Weiner was doing - trolling the internet and sending out explicit pix of himself - that just reeks of nasty. Just trying to see who will respond to him. ewww.

I don't believe for a minute that Monica or any other woman was coerced by Clinton. He's a powerful man, who is , to many women, considered quite sexy and had willing women.

A guy goes to a prostitute...it is what it is. Both parties are aware it's a "business transaction" so to speak.

A guy or woman, pick up a stranger in a bar...both are well aware of what's going on.

But trolling on the internet, for whatever reason he was doing it...that's just creepy nasty. Who knows who all is going to come out of the woodwork - so to speak - that he's had contact with.

I'm waiting to see who's going to come forward that he's had personal contact with....not just internet content. If he sent semi-nude pictures online from his office showing the pictures on his credenza, and he didn't hide his identity - in fact he seemed to flaunt it - I'm sure he's gone farther than just "chatting" or "tweeting".
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Good comments, deb, and yes, I agree that the Clintons look at Huma as being more of a daughter figure than anything else.

And it does appear that their relationship is predicated more on business than any kind of love or even mutual admiration. I well remember her own standing in the polls shot up after Slick 'fessed up about Monica because she was seen as the "victim". She didn't play that down, either.

But hypocrisy is hypocrisy. No matter how you slice it, you can't point a finger at somebody else for living and breathing the same lie that you do. Whether you're banging somebody else because your wife says it's okay or you have phone sex with somebody not your squeeze or spouse, it's still being unfaithful, IMHO.

This little turd won't be hurting for anything.

Weiner eligible for sizable pension

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) remains eligible for a sizable federal pension despite his resignation from Congress, according to a tax watchdog group.

Weiner could receive almost $1.3 million in taxpayer funds over his lifetime, depending on his contributions to the voluntary program and when he chooses to draw down his pension benefits, the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) reported.

I'm of the same opinion as you.

Phone sex might not be physical, but only because the participants aren't in the same room together. The desire and the intent to act on it, is there. If it's not with your partner, then it's cheating...no excuses, no explanations.

New York voters could have saved everyone a lot of trouble if only they had looked closely before voting Weiner into office. Live and learn!
