The report also stated that a culture of laxness was inherent within the school as doors were frequently propped open. That's how the perp got into the school to begin with.

Security starts by having things locked up.

Uvalde shooter exhibited 'almost every warning sign,' expert says

https://abcnews.go.com/US/uvalde-shooter-exhibited-warning-sign-expert/story?id=87064502

Quote
The Texas House of Representatives committee report on the Robb Elementary School shooting revealed the accused school shooter exhibited many warning signs in the years, months and days leading up to the school shooting, but he was still able to legally purchase the assault rifle used in the shooting.

The report illustrated many failures by the school and by law enforcement officers leading up to and on the day of the shooting and caused outcry among families of the 21 people killed in May.

Private individuals were the only people who knew of the many warning signs he displayed, as he had no criminal history prior to the shooting. The alleged shooter's apparent motive was a "desire for notoriety and fame," according to the report.
...
"He exhibited almost every warning sign," John Cohen, an ABC News contributor and the former acting undersecretary for intelligence and counterterrorism coordinator at the Department of Homeland Security, said in an interview. "This guy should have been on everybody's radar."

Same stupidity as with the Parkland shooter - known to be dangerous but nothing done.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

And this raises the obvious question: What makes anyone think new gun laws will accomplish anything?

And this raises the obvious question: What makes anyone think new gun laws will accomplish anything?

While I haven't followed the Uvalde story very closely - I'm a human with ordinary bandwidth, like most - I think it would be true to say that had laws been followed with the Parkland shooter, he would not have passed a NICS background check, and thus not been able to buy his gun at a licensed store. I suspect that people in his area knew enough about him that finding a private seller willing to sell to him might have been difficult.

It sounds like the Uvalde shooter had a poor reputation in a fairly small community (about the size of the nearest town when I was growing up).

But speaking more generally, several notorious mass shootings have involved failures to follow laws that would have led to the shooters being unable to pass a background check.

The shooter bought 2 AR-15 rifles and 375 rounds of 5.56 a couple days before the shooting -- legally. He bought the weapons a day after his 18th birthday and the ammo a day or so later.

Here's another development:

Texas school principal suspended after Uvalde shooting

By Brendan O'Brien - 4h ago

(Reuters) - The principal of the Texas elementary school where a gunman went on a rampage in May has been suspended with pay, her attorney said on Tuesday, two weeks after a damning report about lax security that enabled the shooter to carry out the attack.

Mandy Gutierrez, principal of Robb Elementary School, was placed on administrative leave by Hal Harrell, the Uvalde school district superintendent, on Monday, her attorney Ricardo Cedillo told Reuters.

He offered no specific reason for the suspension which comes two months after the massacre, which killed 19 schoolchildren and two teachers.

The shooting opened up a new wave of debate over the easy access to guns enjoyed by Texans and many other Americans.

"Ms. Gutierrez has no further comment at this time," he said.

And this raises the obvious question: What makes anyone think new gun laws will accomplish anything?

Depends on what any new gunCONTROL  law is intended to accomplish - AAAND whether the CONTROL freaks can come with a founding-era justification for their latest infringement of the 2nd Amendment.

Oh wait; hadn't they better come up with the same founding-era justification for their EXISTING shit gunCONTROL laws first? Otherwise whatever Act they pass is liable to be DOA the moment it leaves #JoeThePedophile's desk...

Uvalde schools Police Chief Pete Arredondo fired three months after mass shooting
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/uvalde-schools-police-chief-pete-arredondo-fired-three-months-after-mass-shooting

Quote
Pete Arredondo has been fired from his role as police chief of the school district in Uvalde, Texas, exactly three months after a mass shooting killed 19 students and two teachers in one of the schools in his jurisdiction.

The school board vote — at a meeting Arredondo refused to attend — was unanimous, according to reports Wednesday evening. Arredondo had already stepped down from his position on the City Council, just weeks after being sworn in, due to the shooting.

After hearing testimony from some in the audience, the board moved into a private meeting to discuss Arredondo's contract, as Texas law requires such decisions to be made in a closed session, according to CNN. The board members then returned to read the motion to terminate the police chief's noncertified contract and ratify his leave. The announcement was met with audible cheers from the audience, according to the New York Times.

No offense, but it really doesn't. One fundamental rule to always remember when dealing with dems, leftists and gun grabbers of any claimed stripe:

It's nearly never really about what they say it's about.

Gun control isn't about stopping these events or about preventing shootings. It's about the gradual disarmament of this country through lies, fiat, and attrition.

They don't actually object to the dead when it comes to mass shootings, they object to the idea of angry Americans doing that to them and theirs, knowing that they're doing everything to deserve it.
"Be not intimidated... nor suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberties by any pretense of politeness, delicacy, or decency. These, as they are often used, are but three different names for hypocrisy, chicanery and cowardice." - John Adams

Why did it take the city council five weeks to fire Arredondo? The detailed report (not a summary) completed by the TX House investigative committee was released 5 weeks ago.

Looks to me like the entire city council is hosed up, not just Arredondo.

The Uvalde police chief should also be terminated.
