A fertilized human embryo has a complete set of human chromosomes. That is scientific fact. It is alive, unique, and in the course of nature will grow into an infant. That is scientific fact.
A human sperm (or a human egg) does not have a complete set of human chromosomes. That is scientific fact. Absent fertilizing an egg (or being fertilized by a sperm) it cannot grow into anything. That is scientific fact.
Flatus didn't think through his brilliant "gotcha", unsurprisingly. And with 7 Replies, not one point out the simple fact that invalidates Flatus' brilliant "gotcha", :rotf: :tongue: .

When some pointed out that Martin had Zimmerman pinned to the ground and was, in effect, using his fists and the ground as a weapon thought it would be clever to ask "Well, why don't people carry sidewalks for self-defense?".

As for a child, single-celled organism? Do you have any idea how mitosis and meiosis work? Here's a f'n hint, it doesn't begin at birth.

This isn't exactly brilliant, and I've posted this at various times and places for quite a few years, but (unusual for me) it is pretty brief. At conception, that single cell is:
* Genetically human, not anything else;
* Genetically unique, not genetically part of the mother;
* Alive;
* At the start of a growth and maturation process in a "programmed" pattern that, if not interrupted, extends from that single cell into geriatric adulthood.
