Have any of you traveled the length of the original US Rt. 66 (at least as much of it that's remaining) lately?

 :bawl:

You speak of a long-cherished dream of mine.

When stationed in Texas and travelling back from visiting "back east", I used to take longer than necessary by driving the remnants in Missouri.

Pixar's "Cars" resonated with me on so many levels...

........But I wouldn't trade the interstates for when I really need to get someplace.  Going to my sister's is faster (if you count early check-in and layovers) by road than by air, thanks be to Ike.

Now that my wife retired, this is something we want to do since there's no time limit.

And here.  Inspiration for Cars' "Cozy Cone".

THIS looks like a good site for info and other things.

I'll take tons of pictures - if blammo doesn't do something that forbids us from doing this.

I live very close to parts of the original route (the route changed a few times in my town through its life) in SW MO.

I'm wanting to do the Route 66 run, and the Lincoln Highway, before all the neat stuff is gone.  If you go, take lots of photos, and share them. :cheersmate:
