I have never heard of the Geneva Bible. Anyway , the Geneva Bible is the "true" Bible, according tto Politichicks. They sent me an email. :whatever:

First Bible taken to America, according to what I heard from my Grandmother....brought on the Mayflower. I am not the most Bible educated person, but I believe it was the first mass produced bible. Ok, looked it up, and it was. It beat out the King James by 51 years, according to a quick google search.

The Geneva Bible has study notes that were written by the reformers. It is also in my opinion easier to read than the KJV. BTW, the actual 1611 KJV is not what we read today when we open our KJV. Most KJV Bibles today are the 1769 revision by Benjamin Blayney or a variation of that.

The Geneva Bible was used mostly by the Puritans. The Bishop's Bible was favored by Episcopalians.
The problem was the notes found in each Bible. They were good translations with only some differences in the translation.
The Hampton Court Conference was held to try to get a unified Bible for the Church of England.
Dr. John Reynolds, who attended the conference said, "that a translation be made of the whole Bible, as a consonant as can be to the original Hebrew and Greek; and this to be set out and printed, without any marginal notes, and only to be used in all churches of England."
He basically wanted the word of God without anyone's opinion or interpretation in it.
The KJV doesn't have any notes, and King James backed it.
