Yeah, it's been slower than cold molasses for me all evening long.

It's a bitch, and so I gave up updating.

Oh FFS! Not just a drama queen but an absolutely stupid one at that.

Cindie

Well when someone depends on someone else to give them food/shelter and the ones that give it to you are no longer in control... well one tends to get a little nervous.

I hope the dummie has a heart attack and dies of an overdose of angst.   :cheersmate:

Where the hell are they getting their numbers from? Even MSNBC is fairly accurate.

Yeah, the server is getting pounded - Its not just us and the lurkers BTW. MAy be another DDoS attack. But that's okay. I am well armed against it if it is. I'll analyze it all later. (Probably tomorrow)

Dummie mom of four doesn't get it.

Quote
Mother Of Four (1,440 posts)

I don't get it... I just don't
My husband just went to bed, he had the range today and was bone tired. He really wanted to stay up for results but couldn't do it. We took our family, plus our grown kids friends to go vote. We got three more to vote this time then last, so that's a good thing.

Even with that good thing, when we got home hub and I had a talk and I just don't get it. If we were to vote for only our own benefit instead of the country's, then we would have gone red. We are all blue. Why are we blue? We're blue because we give a damn about our friends and neighbors, we give a damn about our future grand kids. We CARE about what happens to the people without health insurance. We fricken CARE about more than ourselves. We want safe schools, good roads, healthy people. We don't want to see even one more child die because of guns. We want living wages, womens rights that we have already kept intact, and those threatened beaten down with a stick (reproductive rights). We want equal pay for equal work because it's good for ALL OF US.

It was a progression for us to go blue, slow but steady. It was a progression that was right, and it's really the only moral way we can see.

I want to shake people and yell at them "If we can't stand together we ALL fall. ALL of us."

I don't understand. I really don't. I get like this every election, I get sick and sad. Normally I try to paste on good vibes but for some reason this time is hitting me super hard. Thanks for letting me vent

I was wondering about that miskie. Didn't look like CC was overly busy as far as users and guests go.  I'm sure the dems are behind it somehow.   :cheersmate:

Not a problem. There are things that I have set to thwart DDoS. - I learned how to mitigate it years ago, as one of the other sites I host is also subject to it. LSN (The company that houses the server) also does things to mitigate attacks. The usual effect is slow response at the targeted site until it ends, to stop damage that can occur to the database and whatnot during a robust attack. If it is too intense, all of the affected site's traffic will be sent to /null until it passes.

During the last few election cycles, we shut off guest access to improve site performance.

Just a suggestion.

Hence the brief "502 error" screen I got earlier this evening.

Thanks for fighting the good fight, sir. :cheers1:

Then you're in the wrong party. How many have you enslaved to the government for generations? How many spirits are broken? How many no longer wouldn't even know how to survive on their own? How many are threatened and driven to fear every election and then ignored the rest of the year? How many have never had more than enough welfare to just barely survive? Who've never had a hand up? You people are the same slave owners you've always been, you've just convinced poor minorities that you care.

What a sad sad day for our country.

Happy days are here again,
the skies above are clear again
let us sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again,

All together shout it now
There's no one who can doubt it now
so let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again,

Your cares and troubles are gone
They're be no more from now on
Happy days are here again,

the skies above are clear again
let us sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again,

So long sad time, so long bad time
we are rid of you at last
Howdy gay times, cloudy gray times
you are now a thing of the past
Happy days are here again,

the skies above are clear again
let us sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again,

All together shout it now
There's no one who can doubt it now
so let's tell the world about it now

3. The Republican vote was split this time

With only one Republican on the ballot next time around, that won't be a problem for the GOP.

Call me naive/partisan/insulated/etc., but I still can't figure out what people are voting against.

This is supposed to be a referendum on the president, and not necessarily an endorsement of the Geriatric Oligarchy Party. OK, but where's the beef?

The economy is improving; of course the long climb out of the Great Recession has been quicker for Wall St. than it has been for employment, a lagging indicator in any economy, but you mean to tell me a majority of the American people now trust Republicans on the economy? On what grounds?

We soundly rejected Cowboy Diplomacy in 2006 and 2008 after two failed wars, and reelected the president a year after removing our troops from Iraq. You mean to tell me a majority of the American people now trust Republicans on foreign affairs? What for? We're not "tough enough"? Do we trust Republicans to win a war in two countries we cannot control, with allies we cannot trust, who are fighting a religious civil war we cannot understand? Are we supposed to go to war with Russia? The Washington Post opinion section is almost daily filled with pearl-clutching articles about how scarily "detached" the president is, because supposedly the preferable norm is to flip our shit and lash out without thinking; that's leadership. Do voters agree?

Opposition to the Affordable Care has slowed to a trickle, at least measured by press treatment. And now, a year into the employer mandate implementation, Republicans will have to explain how to replace the coverage of millions who have ACA-backed coverage - at least, I hope they'll have to. That hinges on covered persons knowing they're actually benefitting from the program, and I'd bet a good chunk of them are the "I've never asked for a government handout" types on SS disability/Medicare/etc.

So, what exactly is the complaint against the president? I understood 2006 - bogged down in an Iraqi civil war, fresh off the response to Katrina, spending 2005 trying to privatize Social Security...all reasons to flip the legislature. But in 2014 I just don't see a) what's going wrong, or at least b) how it's the president's fault. What's gnawing at the average voter?

Their liberal bubbles are shattering tonight.
