15. Holy Union Thug Batman!

I'm shocked (NOT) at the negatives. There's been a lot of coverage today and most of what I've seen tends to be anti union.

It's really a shame but the unions bear a lot of responsibility. Greed infected unions years ago and they went way beyond what the original purpose was. To keep employers from abusing employees. That's an over simplification but that's pretty much it.

Years ago, I was in the Carpenters Union in DC. The biggest problem I saw back then was no one would do anything that was outside their job description. If a plumber had materials that were in my way, he would refuse to move them saying it wasn't his job. He would have to find a laborer to move it. By the time you had this episode played over and over every day, the cost over runs got so out of hand that no one wanted union labor on their jobs. With VA being a right to work state, non union labor began to get the lions share of work in the metro area.

The good news was, even non union shops paid good money, usually a dollar or so less than union because THEY HAD TO. I got hurt in 82 but at that time, our scale was like $11.42 an hr. plus bennies. That was nearly 30 years ago. Now many people in trade make even $10.00 an hr. now??

Not many and if unions go down, we'll wind up where the rethugs want us.

"Not my job" added to "Priced ourselves out of a job"....and the DUmmie can't understand what happened.

Nobody replied to Bobbyboring.  He's absolutely right.  The work rules are a killer.  A lot of guys end up sitting around on their big behinds most of the day.  They get to be pals with the ONE guy who's permitted to do something, and he calls in sick.  And so, they get paid $25+ an hour to tell each other fishing stories.

11. How quickly people forget all the benefits they are enjoying because of the labor movement.
Let's go back to child labor, long hours, unsafe conditions with no benefits shall we?

There are laws on the books addressing this stuff, DUmbass.

OP above was based on 74,000 votes.  Still the same proportions, now with 87,000 votes.

Done, and K&R.   :-)

Can the mods play with those numbers?  I don't go over to the DU and had no idea the membership there was in the 10's of thousands.

I don't get it! How many DUmmies get 100% of their pensions paid by the state, or only pay 7% of their healthcare? Only those that are in Teachers Unions or work for the gubmint! So is the DUmp nothin' more than a repository for public union leeches, the hard core unemployed, SS, and disability, blood suckin' ticks? Must be!

You'd think they would wise up and understand we are bein' takin' to the cleaners by public unions! The CNN poll is showing the private sector is waking from a long slumber. Too bad we had to damn near be bankrupt for it to happen! Most here have known this for years, but John Q. Public is startin' to open his eyes!

When the president steps in and backs the pork the unions are stealin' from a state, you know it's gettin' serious! This moron is done! Stick a fork in 'im! Ya see those numbers, ObieOne? That's pretty close to what the vote will be in 2012!
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

Have to agree with DUmmy BobbyBoring, but he still reveals himself as a detestable DUmmy by his use of the sickening cutesie-wootsie term "bennies".

My vote took it to 54%.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

As a matter of fact, yes, I have. At a minor league baseball stadium last summer, I noticed one of the concession items was a drink called "Tummy Yummy".

I have a pretty high tolerance for inane garbage, but that song kills me every time.  It's awful.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.
