Russia to turn off the internet

Russia plans to disconnect the country from the global internet—albeit temporarily—to simulate an all-out cyberwar, with the trial run scheduled to take place before April 1 though a specific date has not been set. The jury is out whether this move is merely a foreboding of more drastic measures to come.

Digital independence

The shutdown is ostensibly a test by the Kremlin to check how well an internet-independent Russia would cope if it was cut off by other nations. This might sound like a case of smoke and mirrors, yet it remains a real possibility for the nation of 145 million souls. Under the test, Russian ISPs (Internet Service Providers) will have to redirect web traffic originating from the country to specific routing points approved and managed by the Russian government’s internet watchdog, Roskomnazor, as per ZDNet.

Like most countries today, Russia relies on global systems to connect with servers from anywhere in the world. There are no reports yet regarding how long the planned outage will take.

TRANSLATION:  Russia is losing the war.

Everyone born before 1991 remembers life with no internet.  You don't turn it off to test anything.  Right... a 'cyber-attack'.  A 40-year-old will buy that for a ruble.

The BBC or somebody is kicking their ass, getting real-time information into the country.  An actually formidable Military would've begun 'turning-off' the internet by last Christmas.

Yup. If Russia was such a cyberbadass, they would've shut down the internet in the Ukraine. Zelenskiy claims he was targeted for assassination 3 times in the past 2 weeks. Putin is looking more and more incompetent, except for the amount of control he wields which is near absolute.

Control and power he has - he simply doesn't know what to do with it. That comes with living in the bubble in which he lives.

Sounds like someone else we know, a little closer to home...

Nice meme - h5

Puppets usually don't have a lot of power. Which #SharterJoe is. The only thing puppets can do is lie, a la Pinocchio, and Joe has that down to a science. He wouldn't know the truth if it took a dump in his lap.
