Quote
“What do Democrats really do when they have all the power?” The New York Times asks that question in a video from earlier this month, and … Democrats and progressives will not enjoy the answer.

Of course, anyone in urban centers or California figured this out decades ago, but the Gray Lady’s belated realization is worth noting (via Matt Vespa):

The Blaze summed it up last week:

Quote
Harris teamed up with Times editorial board writer Binyamin Appelbaum to examine why famously liberal states — such as New York, California, and Washington — struggle to advance the progressive policies despite little to no Republican opposition.

They focused on three core initiatives of the Democratic Party platform: affordable housing, economic equality, and educational opportunity. And in the end, they discovered that “liberal hypocrisy,” not Republican opposition, “is fueling American inequality” and that things are actually much worse in blue states than they are in red.

“In key respects, many blue states are actually doing worse than red states,” the journalists noted in a written report accompanying the video. “It is in the blue states where affordable housing is often hardest to find, there are some of the most acute disparities in education funding and economic inequality is increasing most quickly.”

“Blue states are the problem,” Applebaum, who covers economics and business for the Times, exclaimed.

“Blue states are where the housing crisis is located. Blue states are where the disparities in education funding are the most dramatic. Blue states are the places where tens of thousands of homeless people are living on the streets. Blue states are the places where economic inequality is increasing most quickly in this country. This is not a problem of not doing well enough; it is a situation where blue states are the problem,” he added.

Blue states like California and New York are having the most economic problems.

Blue states like California and New York are having the most economic problems.

They quickly run out of OPM when taxpayers leave the state.

The amazing thing about this story is that the NY Slimes actually ran it.

They're asking questions that real journalists should be asking, but since the Slimes hasn't dipped its toe into journalism in decades, it's surprising that they're actually taking a bath right now.

Appelbaum, in particular, must be off his leftist meds.

There's an anti-American agenda in the story.  -Has to be.

" They focused on three core initiatives of the Democratic Party platform: affordable housing, economic equality, and educational opportunity. Are those three really 'core initiatives'?  Because there is no so-called Democrat Party 'platform' anymore.  The new platform is 'whatever keeps us in power'.

'Liberal hypocrisy' is fueling 'Republican opposition'.  There's no such thing as 'American inequality'.  The NYT just comes out and says 'American inequality' in the same manner that Dem-pollsters ask set-up questions.

You're taking a much more intensive look at this than I have, and that's probably good.

But in terms of power, I'd suggest that the GOP is every bit as interested in regaining same as the Dems are in keeping it. Even Jim Jordan, who loves to appear on camera sans suit coat (as if to appear that he's a hard worker) used the term "power" in his interview with Huckabee a day or two ago.

IOW, ain't no difference between the Dems and the GOP, insofar as the professional politicians are concerned. They're all one and the same.

That said, we all know that platforms aren't worth the paper they're printed on. They're written by interns or underlings who are attempting to climb up the proverbial ladder.

True.  We've been out of power fighting against the Left & their media so long, I miss the days of occasionally firing-off criticisms of GOP buffoonery when they deserve it.
