Author Topic: IE 8 and trouble posting on the forum  (Read 3830 times)

IE 8 and trouble posting on the forum

I updated to IE 8 today and I am having trouble with posting on messages that scroll.  The message keeps scrolling back to the start of the scroll except for when I type a letter it shows where the cursor actually is but then it jumps back to the bottom of the scroll.

Anybody else having this issue?

I tried IE 8 a few weeks ago.

I had all sorts of problems with it.

I rolled back to IE 7.

I don't understand about posting and scrolling.  Is that similar to the shoutbox on here?

No, it is weird and hard to explain but as I'm typing if I start to get a scrollbar then as I go past the point of scrolling it keeps going to the last line.

I think I am just going to roll back to IE 7 and would have already but I had to reboot to get some IE8 update off first.

I have the same issue on the Windows XP in my daughter's room.  I don't know if she upgraded to IE8.  Now I'm going to have to look at it...

I use Google Chrome most of the time, but I do use IE 8 for the *Cubs message board and a couple of others and haven't noticed a problem. I do that on 2 computers, one XP and one Vista.

I can't use Chrome for the Cubs board, because the last automatic update from Google made it so no threads are visible on the MLB boards.

I have the same problem when "quoting" someone. I disabled refresh, seems to help?

I rolled back to IE7 and it is working again.  I tried to get help at MS's forums but my scripts aren't enabled and I don't know which ones need to be going through the long list in the security tab.  Their forums don't work in either 8 or 7 for me.  But it could be Zone Alarm too.

Click on the torn piece of paper to the right of the address bar.  It forces IE8 into a compatibility mode which solved the problem for me.  I just upgraded my Office Suite an at the same time upgraded the browser from IE6 to IE8.  You may have to do this each time you log on, I have not logged off and back yet.

I know what you're talking about.  I have problems with it on certain threads here...but never in all of them.  If it gets too annoying I just switch to Safari for Windows...or wait til I get home to post.
