What the media skips when reporting on the Westboro Baptists: their party affiliation

Quote
The death of a soldier who has given his or her life to protect our freedoms is always a sad event. Having to put one of our best and brightest to rest is made still more difficult by the fiendish antics of Fred Phelps and his band of evil bastards from the Westboro Baptist Church. This bunch has made it their mission to disrupt and make more painful as many military funerals as they possibly can.

They carry signs claiming our fallen heroes are guilty of promoting homosexuality and that “God hates fags.” Watching these low lifes begs the questions: Who are they and who is their leader?

The answers are never clear because of a systematic media cover up. The Democrat controlled media would love to write about Phelps and his gang being “Right Wing fanatics”, but of course it can’t because the truth is 180 degrees to the opposite.

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened."

Didn't know that about Phelps being a disbarred lawyer, but it makes perfect sense.

He makes a living going out and provoking people, then gets his gang of thugs attorneys to sue those who retaliate.

The business about him being a Dem also makes perfect sense, for obvious reasons.

A biography of Fred Phelps written in 1994 that never published. It portrays Fred Phelps as abusive and violent. Four of his children are estranged because of abuse, Nate, Mark, Dorotha, and Katherine. Some of his grandchildren and followers are estranged, Sharon, Sarah, Joshua Phelps-Roper, and Lauren Drain (was voted out after she questioned their beliefs). Also, they have children out of wedlock.

Al Gore once had ties to Fred Phelps.

Why am I not surprised to hear that yet another bunch of loons who make anti-American protests are Democrats underneath it all?

They're just like the hippies of the '60s and '70s who protested the Vietnam War and made hateful, anti-American demonstrations - just they've exchanged faux-communist rhetoric for faux-religious rhetoric.

I still refuse to believe the First Amendment protects them, by the way. Maybe someone else can shed some light on it for me, but being deliberately provocative at a funeral doesn't constitute the criticism of the government that I believe the First Amendment was primarily designed to protect.

Even if the First Amendment does protect their right to "protest" private citizens, it's still obviously harassment and can't possibly be nearly as constitutional as everyone else thinks. At least I hope...
