This is going to earn me a bitchslap or two...Like that ever stopped me before...
When points of my faith are opposed to points of law--the forcing of Birth control and abortion funding on fundamentally Catholic institutions, or even businesses run by people of strong faith, then I say screw the earthly law. I can honestly say that in some things, my faith is more important than the law of the land.
That being said...my faith does not require me to spread the joy of God with the sword. I'm not required to force women to wear modest clothing. My faith tells me to be in the world but not of the world.
The examples I provided above, of course, do not require forcing others into my way of thinking. We Catholics hardly ever use thumb screws or boiling pitch to convert anymore.
