Iroquois winner Arcadius dies at finish line
Moments after denying Tax Ruling a third win in the Iroquois Steeplechase, Arcadius collapsed and died Saturday at Percy Warner Park.
Track veterinarian Monty McInturff said Arcadius suffered a heart attack in the aftermath of the race.
According to Jeff Bradford, public relations director for the Iroquois, an autopsy showed Arcadius died from a pulmonary aneurysm, a bulge in the wall of the pulmonary artery, which carries blood to the lungs.
