Two Florida deputies were shot and killed Thursday around 3 p.m. at a restaurant in Trenton, Florida.

A gunman fired through the window of Ace China, hitting two Gilchrist County deputies who were eating there, the sheriff said. When other deputies got to the scene, the shooter was dead outside, according to the sheriff’s office. Both of the deputies were found dead as well.

Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz named the two deputies as Noel Ramirez, 30, and Taylor Lindsay, 25. Schultz spoke at a news conference Thursday night, describing the two as “the best of the best.”

Schultz stood with other Florida law enforcement officers during the press conference. Schultz said the deputies' deaths weren't a political issue, but asked: “What do you expect happens when you demonize law enforcement to the extent that it's been demonized?”

That wasn't a "political" comment, it was an attempt to get some self-awareness through the MSM mental smug.

UPDATE, 10:24 a.m. Friday: Officials now say the suspect went into the restaurant to ambush the two officers. It was originally reported that the gunman shot through the window of the Ace China restaurant.

Both deputies were on duty and in uniform. They were at the restaurant to eat a meal. No motive has been established, officials said.

There is no indication the officers were able to return fire. The gunman died from a self-inflicted wound.

"The Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office has no idea what drove this man to commit this cowardly act," officials said.

OK,so how did the shooter die? Old age? Ran over by a hippie on a bicycle? So overcome with joy at killing the two cops he stroked out?

WHY is it I think that MAYBE the shooter was killed by a citizen with a CC permit?

It bothers me. NOW they are claiming the shooter died from a self-inflicted wound. WHY would he off himself when he could have just ran away? He proved himself to be a coward by shooting at them through the window instead of manning up and going inside to face them,so how does it make any sense that he didn't just run away?

At the latest the fact that the guy shot himself was announced at 10:24 AM EDT on Friday. If YOU only heard of it "NOW", I guess you weren't following the development of the story all that closely.

I wasn't following it at all until I read it here. It's not local to me and I don't know any of the people involved,so why would I have been following it. I read HERE and MAYBE heard on tv that he shot them through the window,and that was all I knew until I just read your post.
