Title: California Bleeding Manufacturing Jobs, Report Shows

A report out of the Milken Institute finds that California has shed nearly 80,000 manufacturing jobs over the past five years, as neighboring states gained 62,000 jobs in the same sector.

California is shedding manufacturing jobs faster than any other state thanks to heavy regulation and high taxes, according to a new study.

A report out of the Milken Institute found that California has shed nearly 80,000 manufacturing jobs over the past five years, as neighboring states gained 62,000 jobs in the same sector.

The new numbers suggest that the federal government might want to think twice before following in California's footsteps and instituting sweeping regulations on the energy industry and elsewhere.

Otherwise the Golden State might not be the only one that's losing its luster.
*snip*
Milken economist Perry Wong said the state lost about 25 percent of its employment base in manufacturing and about 33 percent in the high-tech sector.

Wow, they had to do a study to find out what we all knew? :mental:

You can rack part of this crap up to policies like the one we will eventually have to deal with.

This would be funny, if it weren't true.
Because our company has more than 2 forklifts that are gas powered (propane) we HAVE to buy special exaust systems to get our C02 lowered (more Glowballs warming bullshit). Each system is approx $3000 to $4000 installed. We need to do roughly 4-5 machines. But there's a catch. The forklift cannot be older than 1990, or it MUST be scrapped because the State does not "recognize" the engine in the forklift and if they "catch" us using it we get a retro-active fine.
This garbage  does not confine it's self to forklifts only. They use the term "Large igniton spark" engines so as to target stand alone power packs (engines to run Ag pumps, ect...) If the engine is not "approved" you MUST replace it.
Thousands of business's are being affected by this, and choose to leave the state rather than deal with this draconian crap.
Oh, the sweet deal in all this, the company that provides the only system (State approved, of course!) is located in.......................NEVADA.

Would  "Large igniton spark" engines also include generators?  Most hospitals , and some other critical businesses have back-up generators, and some run on gas, but a few run on diesel.  Would the diesel be exempt?

I would be one of those who took my job and $12K annual "contribution" to the state of California's tax coffers and told them to shove it up their asses.

Yup. Diesels, I believe, are not exempt, but I could be wrong.
I believe they are after any off-road industrial engines.
