We have a family friend that works at Walmart

and I am not sure how it works, but the hourly employees get bonuses every quarter if they meet certain goals, etc.

These are the low wage workers...and apparently they have all been expecting their quarterly bonuses to do their Christmas shopping.

Until today, they were all told that in the spirit of the holidays, Walmart donated the money that was to be their bonuses to charities.

WTF???The people that were looking forward to and desperately needed those bonuses ARE the people who will be using those charities and undoubtedly, Walmart will be getting a nice big tax write off for THEIR charitable contribution on the backs of their workers.

Just in case you needed another reason to hate Walmart.

No link. Just the word from a friend of a friend of a friend...

The company can just make up and change the rules of the game any time they want and for any reason they want.

My Wal-Mart boycott will be 10 years old in July 2012.

No they can't.

4. I've never shopped there. (I do 99% of my shopping at thrift stores and buying used in Craigslist)

and I don't know what I would do if it were the closest store within 30 miles.

Buying second hand Walmart items, LOL.

41. It must be up to local managers...?? I saw your post and called my next door neighbor who works

at the local WM. She said that she got her bonus and they matched the amount and gave it to 3 local charities. I suppose it works different in other places...?

Bonuses are rarely part of any negotiated contract for retail workers, but they are part of the contracts of the evil banksters most of the time. Even multimillionaire athletes have negotiated bonuses for meeting certain goals.

We used to get monthly bonuses  and a yearly bonus based on company profits and our gross pay, but they stopped that when the old manager died and they hired an idiot.  Now we are lucky to get a ham at Christmas.

But they don't donate that ham to the local Mosque and make you pay taxes on it.

I'm surprised, but there is a mosque here. I had to nadin it to find it.  It's not in an area of town that I would visit.

well, for someone who has worked for Walmart 7 years 10 months and a handful of days. this is not true. Three factors fit into this, sales/profit, loss and safety.

You guys are really smart, you will understand.

We compare our sales on a year to date basis....so say we(base #'s)made 50,000.00 on 12/7/2010 today we may have made 75,000.00, therefore 25000.00 is our profit.then we take our losses which include claims(broken items sent back to warehouse),shrink(theft), and store use items. If someone is negligent and causes an accident(associate or customer), all these UNpredictable liabilities affect our bottom line...once the numbers are computed, the remainder becomes our profitsharing check.

It does go by store, full timers got 59.00 and part-timers got thirty at our store. There are alot of stores that don't do well at all ever!!! I have gotten 500.00 checks before in other quarters, so a store can do really well.....

As far as charities go, each store or district has a specific charity. Ours is Children Miracle Network at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland. We have associates that make stuff for it(For example I make 30 coin pouches, that i donate towards that, Other associates do different things)and Carolyn(volunteer) has a little table that she sells the stuff on and takes donations...

Not all stores do that...Some might just do a lump sum every month, but, it will affect the bottom line of that particular store...
The sea is treacherous, but an even hand on the keel brings it safely to port.

Nothing is sexier than a man and his gun!!!

A man should prefer his own company to that of others, because no matter where he goes,he'll find himself there..

Well maybe they were DUmmie approved charities...did anyone think of that? What if it was donated to Planned Parenthood so some poor woman wouldn't have to go through the holidays with some zygote taking up extra space? Or maybe GLSEN for those K-3 "Gay is Great" coloring books. Surely they're more worthy than some Walmart employee who's just going to waste it on toys their kids will break 5 minutes after they open the packages.

Ms. Ed is lying again.

As she always does.

Apparently every Wal-Mart, or just about every Wal-Mart which probably includes the Wal-Mart where the unappellated eohippus' "family friend" works, donates money to various charities this time of the year, and gives out employee bonuses.

The biggest liar on Skins's island is trying to make it sound as if Wal-Mart gave the employee bonus money to various charities.

She's such a ****ing liar, Ms. Ed.

And again, God forgive me for saying this, but lousy white trash too.

Ms. Ed can kiss franksolich's ass.

Like she'd be friends with anyone working at an evil Walmart.   :whatever:

You kinda gotta get your big ass out of your chair and off the Dump to make friends, something I doubt she ever does.

BTW, I love Walmart.    :-)

That sounds pretty typical.  Some companies go off last years sales of the same date, other base their sales projections on adjusted numbers based upon the time of the week and year rather than the actual day (i.e., 12/11 is a Sunday this year, it was a Saturday last year.  Hard to accurately compare a Saturday sales day to a Sunday sales day without adjustments).

I was going to say the same thing.

My SIL works at Wally World on the phones. I'll have to ask but I think the Horse's Ass has mistaken the double donation WM does each year............on purpose.

BTW DUmmies I have not had a raise nor a Christmas bonus for 3 years. Christmas is tight every year now. I do, however, have a good job...............STILL.

I was hoping to get a bonus this year by not having to pay my FULL share of the FICA, medicare, and federal taxes but Big Government and the 0bama regime gave my money that I was depending on for Christmas to a bunch of lazy ****s.

Ain't gonna never happen, though.

That's a double negative, so that means it's gonna happen.    Let us know how you make it thru inspection.

I have seen Frank cuss, perhaps once.  As moderator, he'd mistakenly deleted someone's post and was quite upset about it.  He dropped an F bomb.

I, too, believe that the horse heard about the matching arrangement and ran to the DUmp with only half of the story.

Yeah, that was a case where GOBUCKS two years ago made a most-excellent post, a literary post for the Ages, and I wanted to quote him and say something, but hit the "modify" button instead, deleting his literature and installing mine.  Apparently there was no way to recover what had been Skinnered.

I do that all the time, but this was a couple of years ago, before I got the hang of it.

You'd be surprised at what franksolich doesn't know.

In fact, you'd probably take to wearing brown pants when watching franksolich at work.

That post of GOBUCKS' was so awesome, I felt as if I'd busted an antique Louis XIV chair or something, when I deleted it.  I felt lower than a dog under water.  But then to add insult to injury, GOBUCKS himself took no offense, as if it wasn't any big deal.  He'd probably forgotten how good it was.
