So where are all the economic stimulus jobs?

Does anyone know of anyone who is back to work as a result of the stimulus bill?

2. Jobs are not really the stimulus.

The anticipation of jobs is the real stimulus.

Pass it on

26. Give it ****ing time!

It's gonna take some time to start shit up. For the green jobs, a lot of the industry actually has to be built first. For other stuff, you need some start up time. Obama's only been in office for 4 months and the stimulus has been out there only for half that time. Bureaucracies take time to get the checks out there.

50. Large projects take time to filter down.

This was my problem with the stimulus - it depends on the same old watering down network of contractors, subcontractor, sub-subcontractors, etc. Everybody takes their cut until the guy at the bottom actually doing the work is left with hardly anything. And, since he works for a contractor wanting to pay the least for labor, there's a good chance part of his pay gets sent back home to the family in Guatamala anyway.
For real infrastructure stimulus, we need the proven WPA, CCC, etc.-the organizations that skipped the middle-man contractors and went straight to the people.

Trickle-down economics at work, huh?

51. The economic stimulus will create few new jobs.

Based on the way the money is being doled out, it is mostly being used to keep currently employed people employed. Most of the stimulus projects that I've seen listed were already started but on the verge of being shut down. Stimulus money is keeping those projects going, but doesn't help the already unemployed.

A stimulus that keeps the problem from getting worse is admirable too.

Bullshit, you'd be beating President Bush like a drum if there weren't any new jobs being created.

so what will the inhabitants of Skinner's island do when unemployment gets really rough with the UAW layoffs hit? Face it, Obama now owns the economy with his stimulus package and his takeover of industries. His willing accomplices in the media and the Congress will turn on him like a pack of dogs on a cow bone once the electorate gets restless. A day of reckoning is coming, it won't be pretty and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

What is the over and under on Obama actually taking responsibility for his mess or will he simply blame Congress?

He will blame congress without a doubt.  That is why he sat back and let Reid and Pelosi have free rein concocting that mess.  If it worked, 0Bama would have been a hero for pushing for it's passage. When it inevitably fails, he'll claim that his behind the scenes suggestions were ignored, but he had to sign the bill given him.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

He blames Bush. Corporate greed. Selfishness among Americans and low taxes being too low

Yeah, where's my pony? I need him/her to plow my garden.

There are only so many flag jobs at a road construction site.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

I haven't seen my pony either, yet.

Saturday I got all excited because there was a big commotion and the sound of hooves in the side yard, but it was a false alarm.  Just the neighboring farmer's heifers making a jailbreak and munching on my wife's flower beds. (true story!)

I am almost inclined to think it was sarcasm - an implicit criticism of Teh Zero, but veiled so as to protect the poster from the ensuing righteous indignation of the faithful.

While this is true, some of the primitives can be pretty subtle.
