I am going next week the 15th to join friends in the best contest for model builders. Its been going on for years now and last year I had to drop out at the last minute. This year I'm only going to enter one or two models and enter the "Iron Modeler" contest on Saturday night.
"Iron Modeler" is a contest sponsored by www.STARSHIPMODELER.com and the rules are that you have to build something in 4 hours out of the material provided to your team. To help out they also have a table with parts you can use to dress up whatever the base item is that you have to work with. This will be the first year I have tried this.
When I get back on the 18th or the 19th I'll post the pictures of all the stuff I see and the people too. Here is the link for those interested in the details of who is going to be there and other things.

I got back home last night at 10:20 pm. Took lots of pictures and will post a link to them. This year I finally won something. I got a merit award for my Klingon Bird of Prey which was one of two models I entered, I have been trying for a long time to win something there. It's very hard to get a merit as the judging is done differently then at other contest,it's based on the merits of your model and not just how well you build it. The judges are people that work in Hollywood and some are from the dealers and the rest are part of the Wonderfest staff. I;ll try and get the pictures up later for everyone to see what this years entries were.

Congrats! How did the contest part go...the Iron Modelor?

Iron modeler went well. We had the base kit of "THe Voyager from an old cartoon series based on the movie "Fantastic Voayge" . We had 4 hours to make somethong out of it using any or as much of the kit parts that we could. Our team called "Team Top Gear" got to the painting stage when time was up and the judging began. There were 11 entries and the one that won the contest was made using parts of a CD player and kit parts.
