SEATTLE (AP) -- Hearst Corp. put Seattle's oldest newspaper, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, up for sale on Friday and said that if it can't find a buyer in the next 60 days the paper would likely close or continue to exist only online. If it does become an Internet-only operation, the P-I, as the paper is known locally, would have a "greatly reduced staff," Hearst said in a statement. Hearst is a major media company that also owns TV stations, other newspapers and magazines including Cosmopolitan."In no case will Hearst continue to publish the P-I in printed form" once the 60 days are up, Hearst said. Steve Swartz, the head of Hearst's newspaper division, broke the news to employees in a meeting Friday.http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Seattle-PostIntelligencer-is-apf-14021451.html
HAHAHA! Major moonbat liberal rag cannot stay afloat in a liberal moonbat haven!People get tired of the unabashed leftist bias from the MSM and their shit no longer sells. This is EXACTLY why that commie bitch Pelosi WILL re-enact the "Fairness Doctrine".Go to the PI website and bask in the river of tears being shed by the moonies because they are about to lose one more of mommies "progressive" tits.http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/soundoff/comment.asp?articleID=395463On Edit: The latest post from the reader's Sound-Off Section:"Posted by Bluechip11171950 at 1/9/09 11:18 p.m.Why is anyone surprised that a liberal newspaper is failing? In Washington State, the Democrats exceed the Republicans maybe 52% to 48%. However, through gerrymandering, a huge majority of public offices are held by one political party. The Seattle newspapers generally support that political party, the Democrats. The Democratic Party support is consistent in PI editorials and news coverage. This ignores the needs of nearly one half of the potential readers of the PI.The Drudge Report is one of the most popular websites on the internet. It should have been invented by a newspaper.Craigslist is one of the most popular websites on the internet and it provides classified advertising, it should have been invented by a newspaper. Our local newspapers ignore the needs of nearly half their potential readers. Amateurs scoop their news and advertising capabilities. Why is anyone surprised that a liberal newspaper is failing?"
