Reid: We won't smell the tourists anymore
« on: December 02, 2008, 01:31:59 PM »

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won't offend them with their B.O. anymore.

"My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true."

But it's no longer going to be true, noted Reid, thanks to the air conditioned, indoor space.

And that's not all. "We have many bathrooms here, as you can see," Reid continued. "Souvenirs are available."

$621 million well spent.

Ugh what a moron.

At least His Lordship has the virtue of being honest about what he truly thinks about the peons down the hill in Flyover Country.

Oh, did the unwashed masses offend your delicate nose, my liege?  Was the untouchable caste too noticeable for you?

I'm starting to think the French had the right idea a couple hundred years ago.

If he'd pull his head out of his ass, the smell would go away.

That still doesn't mean they're very bright.....just smarter than him. :-)

H5!
Reid is a fracking ignorant prick!
Check out the reader's comments at the bottom of the article. The Reid and his liberal elitist comrades should be drop kicked down the steps of the capitol.

I knew there had to be a reason why their Lordships (and Ladyships) were so firmly convinced that their shit don't stink.

If that doesn't scream "government incompetence", I don't know what else does.  But let's put them in charge of the hospitals and oil companies anyway.

The most dangerous place in the world is between Harry Reid and a microphone. What a moron.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Second most dangerous place.  The first is between Chuck Schumer and a TV camera.

Now I know why a certain blogger acquaintance of mine said it was all he could do not to hang out in the Senate parking garage with a sock full of quarters.

A Navy neckerchief stuffed with a roll of quarters works right well, too.......

I had heard on Fox news that a good majority of the "public areas" had been closed off due to "security concerns". The police even told Fox News to quit shooting and move on. All in all, that pisses me off. Why did we pay for this renovation ?? To please his Lordship?? It's OUR f'n MONEY, we should be able to access this place at OUR leisure !!

621 million seems like a lot to spend for a new Monkey Island at the zoo.  Still, I suppose we do have to protect the valuable monkeys from too much exposure to the actual taxpaying zoo-goers, wouldn't want them catching anything from the humans.

The Capitol Visitors Center originally budgeted to cost $71 Billion and be open in 2005. $550 Million over Budget and 3 yrs behind schedule.

This is the govt folks want to take over healthcare, Housing and numerous other 'Rights".
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.
