Republicans beating Democrats 100-1
Advertisements [?]We are the spine that many of our representatives lack. Call damnit!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/2/3/121315/3223/133/...

The word on the street here in Washington is that the right is killing us with phone calls to Congress on the Obama economic recovery plan. One congressperson said the calls are running 100 to 1 against it.

The legislation is now on the Senate floor. If senators perceive that Americans side with Obama in this fight—which several polls say they are—that will strengthen the power of progressives in the debate and we’ll get a good bill. If, on the other hand, senators are only feeling the heat from conservatives, then our advocates will be weakened and we’ll get a lousy bill. That’s just the way things go on Capitol Hill.

Those who worked for the election of Barack Obama and are currently sitting on the sidelines waiting to see how his economic recovery bill turns out—it’s time to stop waiting. Stand up and fight!

That means pick up the telephone and call 202-224-3121 (or use the toll-free service at 866-544-7573). Ask the Capitol operator to transfer you to one of your state’s U.S. senators. When you’re connected, say you’re calling to urge your senator to "support the Obama economic recovery plan and oppose all conservative amendments." Call back and repeat for your other senator. Then contact everyone you know and urge them to do the same.

1. Kick if you called.
I called Feinstein and Boxer. I'm not too worried about Boxer but Feinstein is a fair-weather Dem.

So what is it going to be? Sitting around bitching about the Republicans or beating them at their own game?

5. mine are burris and durbin and foster in the house
they know how the citizens of illinois feel about jobs..there is`t anyone in illinois who thinks we don`t need jobs and the vast majority in one way or another have been adversely affected by bush`s economic policies.

the 29% call call all they want but it won`t change a thing....intelligent people know the republicans caused the problem and their solutions no longer work
Burris? He's too busy speaking to the engraver to bother with moonbat 'phone calls.  :-)

I don't think its just Rethugs calling the Congress on this BS.

Correct,if this is true it is likely to be that mushy middle that thought somehow there really was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow so voted for the miracle of O.

Now they are finding out that the pot of gold is going to be filled out of their pockets and given to really important things like ACORN...etc.

Voting has consequences as has been cited on these pages many times.

Ya know what the most distasteful (to the "moderates" who voted for the Obamessiah) part is for them, neighbor?  They thought that they were immune from those consequences.  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

The bolded statement is one of the many reasons that DUmmies will always be the parasitic dregs of society instead of successful human beings. They don't care whether an amendment is good or bad. To their tiny pea-sized brain such things do not matter. All that matters is whether or not it's a "conservative" amendment. What would happen if the conservatives presented an amendment to outlaw conservatives? Would it cause the DUmmies to go into an endless loop of being both for and against the amendment?

I thank the brain-dead Dummies for reminding me to call Feinstein and Boxer and my local congresscritter Berman.

It won't change their vote but all the offices asked my zip code so I think they are tallying.

Californians call, even if it won't change the vote!

Many people, both democratic and republican realize that this bill is crap and won't do anything to stimulate the economy. I think people see this for what it is, a payback for those who helped get Obama elected.

I've even emailed and called the moonbattyest (sp?) Boxer though I know where that communist will come down on the porkulus bill.

Thank you, Karin, and H5.  I found Schmuck's number this morning (202-224-6542), and Post-It noted it to my cell.  Now, both will be getting calls from it.

Support for Stimulus Package Falls to 37%

Support for the economic recovery plan working its way through Congress has fallen again this week. For the first time, a plurality of voters nationwide oppose the $800-billion-plus plan.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 37% favor the legislation, 43% are opposed, and 20% are not sure.

Two weeks ago, 45% supported the plan. Last week, 42% supported it.

Opposition has grown from 34% two weeks ago to 39% last week and 43% today.

Sixty-four percent (64%) of Democrats still support the plan. That figure is down from 74% a week ago. Just 13% of Republicans and 27% of those not affiliated with either major party agree.

Seventy-two percent (72%) of Republicans oppose the plan along with 50% of unaffiliated voters and 16% of Democrats.   ...

Or maybe....just maybe....if they discuss it long enough, the economy will recover on its own?

Do you think we could get them to focus on the issues again, like steroid use in baseball or something?

Now THAT is the proper use of Congress.

As long as they are talking about spending our money, they are dangerous and no one's liberty is safe.

All legislatures, state and federal, should be part-time like Virginia's.

The Federal and State legislatures all were at one time "part-time". That was back in the day when they were every day citizens with real jobs(farms, businesses, etc.) back home they had to run. Somewhere along the line, they voted themselves high enough pay scales (+corruption) to become professional full time politicians.......and it's been down hill ever since.

If we're going to cut CEO salaries to 500K... or about 1% of what they were making, ...do the same for politicians....

President-$4,000
Senator-$2,000
Representative-$1,500
SCOTUS-$2,000

In Texas they meet for a session every 2 years, then they have a year to campaign
