They have held on to tribalism in spite of themselves. Would be worthy of a good Masters Thesis. Look at how they vote, 'block voting'. Ever been to an ALL black church in the bowels of that area of town? You should, talk about and eye opener! Part of my 'diversity training' was to attend church at an all black church, in fact they gave us a list of churches we might attend to get the full black experience. Their church service is quite long and only partially addresses the reason why most go to church. What you can learn is Tips and Tricks to draw welfare, food stamps, disability SS payments, listings of govt handouts and other assorted give-away programs, where to buy cars, shop you name it.
Blacks will send out folks to 'shop' businesses to see if they are black friendly, if not (in their opinion) then you will be blacklisted (no pun intended).
Some years back my dad was friends with a major oil distributor in our area. They had a company owned service station in the depths of black area. It had never made money no matter who owned it. They asked my dad to take it over. We did amid many balloons etc. We had almost zero business being a couple of white guys. Then one day a black guy came in, dad was out and I was working and he wanted his car filled with gas, oil change, wash, wax, vacuum you name it. Dad came back from errands just about the time I was finishing. Shortly the guy stops back by to pick us his car. I present him with a rather large bill for all the work, detailed by job and cost. He explodes says he never ordered such stuff the only then he had wanted was a tank of gas...dad and I stood there as he ranted and raved...he finished and looked at us and said. 'what are you going to do about it?' Simple I said, I made a mistake, I am sorry, I will delete all the charges except your tank of gas. The guy almost turns white. You kiddin? No, customer is right, sorry, I misunderstood you. He smiles, and says, you did a good job, I will pay the bill anyhow. He forks over cash and as he goes to leave he intro himself and asks if we are the only two folks that work here. We say yes. He looks and says tomorrow about noon I will send a man over, you might want to hire him?
We opened at 6 am, the next morn we arrive at 0545 to see a line of cars as far back as we could see, waiting to buy gas...we were working like dogs, we hired the guy that showed at noon. Later that day Mr Wax job stopped by and handed us a list of people who can buy on credit and if anyone is late on his weekly payment, just let me know...NO ONE ever was.
We went on in that tiny gas station to be the biggest volume retail gas outlet in the district...we later sold the station for a good profit.
They are very tribal in in lifestyles...
