I've seen a few local bands that were really good.  There was a Metallica tribute band in Raleigh that was, sadly, better than the original.  More energy and love for the music, and they didn't half-assed rush through the songs like the band does now.  Ugh.  I hate seeing them live now.  They're horrible.

I saw Megadeth fairly recently.  They all had beer guts and bald spots.:rofl:

Boston, 38 Special, OakRidge Boys (don't ask why) are the ones that I can think of off hand there were many others.
