The average age in the United States is 38.5 years old. This is a small increase from 38.2 in 2018. States in the western half of the United States tend to have a lower median age than states in the eastern half. The median age ranges from 31.2 years to 45.1 years.

⭐⭐ I wonder what the average age is for the folks here at DU. I think we're probably older than an average of 38.5 (but I could be wrong.)

I was born during Ike's Administration, so I'd be among the plurality age group were I on DU (which I'm not,   ). I suspect that if I ran that poll on the discussion site I most frequent that the percentages would be similar. Younger folk seem to have gravitated to sites like FB and Twitter, which SUCK for anything approaching actual discussion (the thread formatting, not the sites' denizens ... many of whom also repel actual discussion).

Its even worse on FB than what you're saying. They're community standards bots don't handle sarcasm at all.

I don't doubt that some people have gotten something-or-othered by FB for sarcasms and other unserious remarks, but I've several times joked with friends who had just been vaccinated about when their third leg would start growing, or about the DNA re-programming giving reception of "My Mother the Car reruns (Moderna) or "Hogan's Heroes" reruns (Pfizer), while those who received non-reprogramming J&J had to rely on using rabbit ears. And not gotten any FB-flak. So ...

Even though I haven't been actively searching for a new job in about 5 years, still get e-mails with suggestions and tips from recruiting agencies/etc.

Caught one report the other day that said 60+% of "millennials" or 18 to 35 year old's dislike sarcasm in the workplace.  And are offended as well.

Personally can't go more than an hour or two without being sarcastic.
