Often my machine just quits IE; no warning, no nuthin'. It seens to return after about 2 - 3 minutes.
Anything I can do to correct the irritation?

Is it IE or your IP?
Have your tried firefox?

Have your tried firefox?
Chrome and Opera are good alternatives also - even if it's just to see if it's IE or something else.

If you want to get an idea of whats happening then use IE until it crashes and then go look at the application log in event viewer. If it logs an event those entries often have a link that will provide more information on what is going on.
I have a similar problem with IE 9 viewing the Hotair website. I haven't spent much time troubleshooting the problem and have taken to using the chrome browser to get around it.
The problem seems to revolve around the browser handling errors the server has when providing advertisements. If you can reproduce the error and provide event log information I'd be happy to take a look at it.

My wife's machine is using Firefox.
Would anyone recommend that? I had "not so much good luck" with Firefox in the past. Is Chrome any better now? I had bad experiences there, too.
Problems transferring info from IE over to either one of them?

I'm using Chrome... I just don't care for Firefox anymore. It runs like crap if you have more than two add-ons running.

So you like Chrome in lieu of the others?
It's been a while, but are there any problems transferring favorites, etc?
-
Not that I've noticed. It's just your standard export/import.

Chris is right, I didn't have any problems transferring favorites.
I haven't found a "home" button but you can just create a favorite in the folder created for you imported IE favorites.
The only problem I have noticed with chrome so far is small problems with page formatting, not a big deal.

I installed Chrome. How do I get the last post to appear? I have to go through all the posts on a page.
