Title: In residential real estate, bid farewell to the 'master bedroom'

In residential real estate, bid farewell to the 'master bedroom'
"Master bedroom" replaced with "owner bedroom" in floor plans

The “master suite” is being phased out — not from our homes, but from our lexicon.

I surveyed 10 major Washington-area homebuilders and found that six no longer use the term “master” in their floor plans to describe the largest bedroom (with its own bathroom) in the house. They have replaced it with “owner’s suite” or “owner’s bedroom” or, in one case, “mastre bedroom.”

Why? In large part for exactly the reason you would think: “Master” has connotation problems, in gender (it skews toward male) and race (the slave master).

Enter the owner's suite.

It was the master bedroom at the house we looked at on Tuesday.

Everything changes - especially today (http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/blog/2013/04/in-residential-real-estate-bid.html)

Some smartass builder should to draw up plans that label the secondary bedrooms "slave quarters".

I saw some actual slave quarters in Savannah, GA, about 18 years ago.

Out behind Paula Deen's house?

Nah. It was a mansion (sort of) that a lawyer with whom I was dealing was restoring to antebellum shape. The kitchen had a huge fireplace for cooking.

we went thru this BS a few years back in the computer industry when some p.c. clown was offended that drive interfaces were named master and slave and pushed to get them renamed as primary and secondary channels.  I recall one municipality spend thousands of $$ having an employee place a label over any offending cable inside the computer that had the term master or slave on it.  Your tax dollars at work to keep the limp wristed p.c. crowd quiet....

The modern politically correct movement began at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which is one of the most liberal colleges in the United States. Political correctness is a liberal degrading of the freedom of speech. George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four famously incorporated the notion of limiting thought through language (see Newspeak).

Los Angeles County made their IT department stop using the terms master/slave.  Never mind that most computers no longer use those kinds of configurations due to advancements in technology... each drive has its own cable which makes their dictate pointless.

I seem to recall something about master baths and master bedrooms from California.

I still have a couple of old computers that use the IDE drives.  I have 4 or 5 of the old smaller drives on a shelf.

Q: What's the difference between being kinky and being perverted?

A: A kinky person uses a feather; a pervert uses the whole chicken.

Unreal.  :thatsright:

Hang on kids this will get most interesting fast.

Multi billion industry is about to be attacked by the PC of the world.   OH NO, the dog breeding industry, the shows and the tradition for generations will take a hit.

First dog show I went to with my kids and walked about with them we came across two nice old Lady's with dogs for sale. My kids liked the dogs but we were looking for pet quality dogs not show dogs.

One of the woman 10 years older then their grand mother told them she had a pet quality BITCH for sale.   Kids eyes got round as saucers, I tried not to laugh but as this was 30 years ago the PC was coming into place.

Life becomes a vortex for us, we get sucked down into a place where everything normal for generations suddenly becomes bad or the bad becomes to mean good.

What do we call a Stallion now if Sire is off limits???

Does that mean that soon the term "Master Control" will be removed form television stations and NASA offices around the world?

What about master key?  Does this mean Master Lock is gonna find itself on the wrong end of a lawsuit from the NAGs?

Does that mean masterbation as a term can't be used either?
