Six women picked as jurors in George Zimmerman trial
Published June 20, 2013
FoxNews.com

DEVELOPING -- Six women were chosen Thursday to decide the fate of George Zimmerman, the Florida neighborhood watch captain accused of murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

The six jurors were seated after a nearly two-week long jury selection process, in which potential jurors were grilled about their prior knowledge of the case and their personal beliefs on guns, law enforcement and media coverage of the fatal shooting.

The court also chose four alternates.

The six final jurors are all women – five are white and one is Hispanic.

The racial and ethnic makeup of potential jurors is relevant, prosecutors say. They have have argued that Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer for his gated community in Sanford, Fla., profiled Trayvon Martin when he followed the black teen last year as Martin was walking back from a convenience store to the house of his father's fiancee.

The fact that President Obama commented on this case as always bothered me with respect to a fair trial; I'm not sure you can still have one.

At least one if not more will be a leftist plant who lied throughout the jury selection.

I'm sure there are.  But I don't see him getting charged with second degree murder either.

I see a hung jury.  Which will set off the riots.

I wonder if they picked all women because they think that showing Trayvon's baby pic will melt hearts?

I think it's bull that there are no men on the jury.  That just doesn't seem fair either way for Trayvon/Zimmerman.

They have the same opportunity to dismiss jurors; his lawyer must have tested jury response which found favor with women

Am I missing something?  I thought a jury was 12 people, not six.

I heard it was 12 also.  All women.

It is a six-person jury in felony prosecutions.   In fact, the landmark 1970 Supreme Court case that approved smaller juries in the first place comes from Florida. The court called the tradition of 12-member juries just a "historical accident."

There were 300 in the jury pool, two thirds were women.  The prosecution didn't want two of the seated jurors, but the judge dismissed his objections because they were based on gender.

I think if he is convicted, he may have grounds for appeal on the "jury of his peers" thing. Or not since his side approved

There is a theory that women are more sympathetic to this type of case -I'm interested in hearing what the jury consultant will say, she's giving an interview today.

Zimmerman was asked by the judge if he found the jury acceptable, and acquiesced -he doesn't have a case for that but his lawyers will watch for any jury misconduct

Is here a JD ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

No doubt this is going to be a lot worse than the O.J. Trial. Especially if he's innocent.

The leftists (formerly called liberals) in this country have already tried, convicted and sentenced Zimmerman in their minds...or what subs as their minds.  No trial needed.  They're ready to hang him or at least put him away for the rest of his life.  Amazing duplicity on their part, since normally they whine, moan and cry over REAL convicted murderers in prison.

I expect an acquittal or a hung jury - no matter, there's a danger of Zim being tried again on federal charges and Orlando will burn in the meantime.

I'm predicting jury issues and likely a substitution.  As for a hung jury, I think he may be found guilty -I just have a feeling about the politics
