Labour considers raising national insurance to fix £30bn NHS 'black hole'
Radical plans to increase national insurance contributions to plug a looming £30bn a year "black hole" in NHS funding and pay the spiralling costs of care for the elderly are being examined by Labour's policy review.

The Observer has learnt that the idea is among options being considered to ensure NHS and care costs can be met under a future Labour government, without it having to impose crippling cuts on other services in successive budgets.

Senior party figures have confirmed that a scheme advanced by the former Labour minister Frank Field – under which funds from increased NI would be paid into a sealed-off fund for health and care costs – is being examined, though no decisions have been taken.

Recent figures based on data from NHS England and the Nuffield Trust and produced by the Commons library suggest that NHS costs alone will go from £95bn a year now to more than £130bn a year by 2020.

The British were floating partial privatization plans as far as three years ago, IIRC.  All these schemes are spiraling downward and these retards just can't buy a vowel.  Norway sees the writing on the wall, the Danish, the French, even the Swedes are grumbling about the crushing tax rates.

National healthcare will work if we tweak the French model just a little bit. Instead of having no air conditioning in hospitals and the doctors and nurses taking off the month of August like in France to allow the old folks to die, we use no heat or air conditioning and the doctors and nurse take one month in summer and one month in winter. Think of it as flushing the Obamacare commode twice a year.

I'm laughing at the idea of nurses being able to take a) a month off, and b) August off at all.  All of my summer PTO was denied this year due to staffing levels and seniority. It must be nice to be nurse in France, maybe I need to start brushing up on my French skills.

And, it will work if we deny treatment and prosthetics like they do in Ireland, unless you or your doc can prove a) it will work, and b) it will benefit the rest of the population to fix you.

Perhaps a slight rephrasing of your comment might be in order? ;)

You mean surrendering ?
Newsflash...Healthcare costs rise after private medicine with efficiency ratings in the mid to high 70% range is socialized with efficiencies no higher than 25%.
