well, this is slimy.  a whining liberal bet wetting organization made a utterly baseless allegation with absolutely no evidence whatsoever, and now the lie is being picked up and replayed by even bigger, whinier bed wetters.

the allegation goes like this;  the chamber of commerce runs ads.  the chamber of commerce collects dues from foreign companies.  thus, the chamber used used foreign money to pay for political ads.

if this is the top talking/attack point that the white house is sending out to their minions, then they are in huge trouble.

Quote
Franken to FEC: Investigate foreign cash charges against Chamber of Commerce

Sen. Al Franken is calling for the Federal Election Commission to investigate allegations from a liberal group that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce —  the pro-business association that’s said it will spend $75 million on the midterm elections — used money from foreign corporations for its political ads.

The Chamber denies the allegations.

The charges were made Tuesday by Think Progress, a blog run by the progressive Center for American Progress Action Fund.

Essentially, Think Progress claims the Chamber’s foreign chapters, which collect dues from foreign corporations, send that money directly to the Chamber’s main headquarters in Washington, which in turn uses the foreign funds for its political spending.

Franken’s letter says that the Chamber’s mixing of funds under current FEC rules “is not per se illegal.” But he wrote that the company had to demonstrate that its foreign funds were not used for political purposes, and pushed the FEC to launch an investigation.

In addition, Franken’s letter asked the FEC to change its regulations allowing foreign companies to spend on elections — which is legal so long as the company is incorporated in the U.S. and creates a special election committee staffed by Americans.

How 'bout some voter fraud investigations first.

How about some investigation into Obama's received contributions via Internet, when they turned off the flag or whatever, which obscured where the money came from?

Sure, let's do some contributor investigations. We can start with 0bama, then Pelosi, then Franken. While we're at it, let's investigate the potential voter fraud committed in MN that got him elected !! After that's all done, THEN we can look at the Chamber of Commerce......

I would call Franken a shrieking asshat, but that would be an insult to shrieking asshats.

Jessie wasn't that bad but the election of Frankenstein does indicate that their voting prowise is headed down hill.

I always considered jesse the mud in the water that first obscured the difference between political leaders and celebrities;  he was the first domino that led to arnold, franken, and whatever other forked up celebrity legislator that we are currently burdened with.

of course, the democrats get caught red-handed selling influence to the chinese for campaign cash, and al gore's explanation was the infamous "no controlling legal authority" comment.

liberalism survives only because the public has a short memory.

"obama" must be kenyan for "what is this boomerang doing lodged in my forehead?".  his attacks on rove and the CofC are doing nothing but boosting donations to both.   keep it up,  :asshat:

Rove-backed group raised $13M since attacks from Obama

The GOP-aligned American Crossroads said Wednesday it has raised over $13 million since coming under attack from President Obama.

The group and its campaign affiliate, Crossroads GPS, said it had easily surpassed its initial fundraising goal of $50 million to spend on behalf of Republicans, and has increased its target to $65 million, according to spokesman Jonathan Collegio.

The boffo numbers come after a week in which Obama led Democrats in attacks on the group, which is affiliated with GOP strategists Ed Gillespie and Karl Rove. Both are veterans of President George W. Bush's White House.

Obama accused American Crossroads and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of possibly receiving money from foreign donors and corporations to fund their electoral activities, a charge the groups deny.

The administration has shown no sign of relenting in their attacks toward the groups, which could have a major impact in the final weeks before Nov. 2, when voters head to the polls in crucial midterm elections.

Collegio said the attacks had only driven interest in the group's activities, and that the increased fundraising would allow Crossroads to spend an additional $10 million in House races, and $5 million more in Senate races.

Thanks Wretched E, that story made my afternoon. Now, if after the election we can get Speaker Bohner to open the session with a new broom (for a clean sweep) he can offer Nancy, along bottle of Gay Goose, for her trip home.

Franken-stein is living proof, along with Jessie Ventura, that Minnesotans should'nt be allowed to vote.

Well, let's see..... we had Norm Coleman, the Dem Mayor of St Paul that "conveniently" turned Republican for that election, we had Skip Humphrey, the MN AG, a die hard Dem and then we had Jesse Ventura to choose from. (I voted in that election). Now tell me, who would you choose out of those three??

Furthermore, I lived in MN under Jesse's tenure. He wasn't a bad Governor. What he was bad at was PR. He was always saying some dumbass thing and sticking BOTH feet in his mouth. He did get vehicle registration costs down to a more acceptable fee. New vehicles were costing some $500, sometimes more, to register, along with sales tax. He cut the cost  to less than half. Many Minnesotans were moving to Cheeseland (WI) because taxes were less. Their vehicle registration was like $35.
