Black Republicans offer hope after Barack Obama's failures on race

Campaigning a few miles from Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired in 1861, Tim Scott described last week how he was born into poverty and a broken home, much like Barack Obama.

"My dad was gone by the time I was seven," the black candidate for the House of Representatives told a mixed group of students at Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston. "I was flunking out of high school. I failed geography, civics, Spanish and English. When you fail Spanish and English, you are not bilingual, you are bi-ignorant."

But the conclusions that Scott, 45, drew were very different from those of Obama. When he was 15, a man who ran a Chick-fil-A fast-food restaurant taught him "that there was a way to think my way out of the worst conditions". Scott went on to became a small businessman and a proud "conservative Republican".

Barring a cataclysmic upset, Scott will be elected to Congress on November 2nd. There, he will be a ferocious opponent of Obama, to whom he gives a withering "failing grade" for his presidency.

Quite a difference between him and the democrat Alvin Greene, uh?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

I hope someday that a black republican won't be such a big deal and people focus more on his or her policies.
Don't get me wrong it thrills me to see some black folks in the conservative camp I just want that to become more "normal".
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Well, for starters, when I heard Allen west was running for congress in Florida, and that he was the one that got in trouble for firing a gun near a prisoners head during interrogation, he earned my backing.  I didn't find out until later that he was black.

The problem isn't with the conservatives, it's more with the media. The MSM always makes their race the big issue, without going in depth to their positions and why they hold those positions.

Huge difference between him and the imposter sitting in the White House. But, then again, what do you expect from the imposter? He was raised communist and anti-Colonialist.

The election wasn't so much about what Obama brought to the table," said. "People voted for him because they wanted to feel good about themselves, that they weren't racist."

Johnson even argued, Mr Obama had set back the cause of race relations by playing down the white side of his heritage. "His mother was white, his father was a person of colour but every time there's a racial issue he plays the race card just the same as everyone else."

Now come Novemeber let's hope people wake the hell up and realize that the momentary "feel good" is over.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Spot on. Most normal people don't associate people with a particular race, absent photos or other input.

People are people. Only media and idiots focus on race.

They really didn't think he'd be elected...they just voted for him so they could hold the race card over other peoples head. "OH no, I'm not racist, I voted for Obama." Well he got elected and I can't find anybody that voted for him.
