I never much cared for sci-fi, unless it was being lampooned.

Did you grow up watching that type of stuff?
Yeah, I read all the sci-fi books in the high school library. Loved the sci-fi comic books of the 50's/60's....space aliens, all that stuff. Oh, and The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, The Outer Limits on TV, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc., etc...

But the funny thing is I don't buy into the crazy conspiracy theories like space aliens, Bermuda triangle stuff. A lot of people into sci-fi believe all kinds of crazy stuff.

I remember watching some of the older Twilight Zone stuff when I was growing up.  I didn't care for the newer ones.

In my formative years, I watched a few episodes of Babylon 5, and I think that's what soured me on that type of stuff.  Terrible, horrible, awful.   :p

Just watched a story about Princess Kulianai(sp). Not too bad. Rather sad that she only lived to be 29

Godzilla.

Great special effects but they spent most of the screen time NOT showing you the monsters. I understand this is to build suspense but after 90+ minutes it became more of a distraction. It's still a good beer and popcorn movie.

Edge of tomorrow.
Decent story line and execution.
Good acting.
Not much in the way of chemistry.
Some glaring hang ups.

Went and saw Fury last Friday night. Excellent film IMO and well worth the money to see it. We also get to see a real Tiger tank as opposed to a T-34 made to look like one.

I've been watching a lot of MST3K while I study for Midterms.

I just finished Rage with Nicolas Cage in it. It was terrible. Awful. My uncle dared me to watch it.

For some reason, THOPB reminded me a lot of Village of the Giants.  Maybe it was the opening sequence.

I saw Fury last night, after having cashed in about 60 hubby points to bring Mrs. E along.

Meh.

No plot, no story. Just war. Horrific war.

Apart from the realism (God, those guys really used those shitty M3 grease guns?) in spots (c'mon, 5 guys in a Sherman are gonna take on an entire SS battalion of troops, armed with Panzerfausts, and not get hit by those right away?), this film is a joke. Gimme a break. They say to suspend your disbelief, but this is ridiculous. Shades of Hogan's Heroes.

The Germans were NOT stupid. This film portrays them in that way.

Brad Pitt - go comb your pretty hair and make kissy-face with Angelina. It's what you do best.

I saw Exodus: Gods and Kings on Friday night.  I give it two thumbs up.  I have heard people grumbling about the movie taking liberties with the Bible, but I don't think it veers any further away from Scripture than the Charlton Heston version did.

Caught "The Hunter" on TV a few weeks ago. I liked it so much I bought the DVD.

Quote
The Hunter speaks of humanity left in a cruel man who was sent on a different mission. This time he is to hunt down an endangered animal and then he comes in touch with a wonderful family with kids where he finds his softness in heart. Film rather starts and moves bit slow but it just gives the total freedom for the viewer to wonder about. The plot is unique and I'm sure I have not come across anything similar before. The landscapes are amazingly beautiful and the story line keeps you going. I like Dafoes performance on this. And the sweet little kids.

The Tasmanian Tiger is a marsupial thought to be extinct since 1936 when the last captive animal died in captivity in 1936.

Australian movies are a fresh breath compared to Hollywood.
