11-19 college football live thread

I dunno how it's going to go today; thus far six hunters have dropped by,  It's cold, wet, and icy here on the roof of Nebraska.  I have no idea how that affects deer-hunting, but I suppose as the opportunity comes up, I'll ask.

Anyway.

This was a shocker last night; I myself just read about it in the newspapers:

Oklahoma State 31, Iowa State 37, final.

Whoa.

The important games today include:

Indiana-Michigan State
Minnesota-Northwestern
Iowa-Purdue
Wisconsin-Illinois
Nebraska-Michigan
Penn State-Ohio State

Kansas-Texas A & M
Texas Tech-Missouri
Oklahoma-Baylor
Kansas State-Texas

I'll be watching in particular the Southern California-Oregon game at 7:00 p.m.

I don't care what the talking faces on television say, where the bookies put the odds, and what the primitives predict; Southern California's probably going to win that game.

I believe the Sooners defense can shut down RGIII and crew. The offense can score fairly easily against a porous BU defense. The extra bye week has helped get our walking wounded in the linebackers and defensive backs mended up.

This year, I might finally break down and order something from the internet.

I've never done that before, because I've never seen anything on the internet that pushed my buttons, that wasn't already available out here in real life.

There's a particular item that used to be featured in novelty catalogues (Lillian Vernon, whatnot), little steel lengths with one side being serrated, that one clamped to the bottoms of one's boots or shoes.  They were advertised as being especially ideal for walking mailmen during the winter.

They were also advertised as making walking on ice as safe as walking on solid dry ground.

I'm sure there's a big market, a big market, for such a thing here in Nebraska, but damn, I've never seen them in stores.
