I'm beginning to develop a little anger toward Rove, Bush and Cheney myself. They're screwing the DUmmies over before I get a chance too...... :rotf:

134. Why were you not able to make your payments?

Why were you not able to make your payments? Could it be you were uncreditworthy, so took a deal that clearly would blow up in your face when payments go up? Yes, the lenders semmingly got a good deal but did you not know full well you were getting too much house for your credit level? So now you expect taxpayers to bail you out, taxpayers who borrowed withint their means and pay their mortgages and their taxes? How about finding housing that fits payments you are able to make?

Oh my.

Oh my my.

I'm starting to think perhaps it might be a good idea for the cymbals-clanging primitive to telephone Doug's ex-wife, for some tips on how to manage this.

It's very sad, and surely frustrating, to lose one's home, but there's now about 6,405,782 things that aren't ringing right in this story; it's deafening, the clangor.

We did. Now we are Homeless. Thanks Mr Bush, thanks one helluva lot.

There's no shortage of apartments in this country.  Why do they equate not owning a house with being homeless?  I don't own a house, and I'm not homeless.

149. And what about the raffle?
So, how many people bought your $100 raffle tickets to win the house and will you be paying them back?

==Win a Home in Maui webpage can’t be accessed but here is a cache on Google of the page as at Nov 13, 2008 01:36:40 GMT:

http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:vkAe-ILJyvMJ:www.w...

From the NYT in September, 2008:
Others, though, are finding creative ways around the rules. Julie Sigwart, a Web designer, is holding what she calls a “skills contest” to give away her six-bedroom, four-bathroom house with ocean views in Maui, which she has been trying to sell since last October.

As in the raffle for Ms. Crawford and Mr. Kelly’s home, she will charge a $100 entry fee, but participants will have to write an essay — the theme is “Aloha, what does it mean to you?” — which will be judged by a group of “prominent members of the community,” she said. (The judges have yet to be finalized.) Because the contest isn’t a game of chance, state approval is not required, and teaming with a nonprofit group isn’t necessary.

Ms. Sigwart has wanted to downsize for more than a year, and has repeatedly marked her house down, from $729,000 to $600,000. But the market in her area is terrible; she recently attended an open house in a nearby neighborhood and was the only person there. After a contract on her house fell through in August, her husband suggested the contest, and she created a Web site for it this week. Asked when she hopes to begin the contest and declare a winner, she replied, “As soon as possible on both counts.”

From: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/25/garden/25raffle.html?...

And interestingly enough, the site for the raffle (http://www.winmauihome.com/) was up and working yesterday.  You would expect that they would update the raffle site to announce the raffle was off and everyone was going to get their money back.  Things that make you say hmmm.

Just a man, woman and small child.  Wondering which DUmmie will point out that he is begging over there because he needs money to pay for a $600K house.  I gotta wonder what his wife is thinking.  From the history of his posts, it appears she brought all the money into the marriage and he has spent the last five years, or so, spending it all.  As another poster noted recently about TSS "Hey ladies, if you're into doing all the heavy lifting and paying all the bills, call me.".

As a real estate agent that specializes for the last 18 months in foreclosures (I have been a licensed agent for 11.5 yrs)....this does not make sense.

In the first place, one has to be at least 3 months in arrears for a lender to take action. At that point, a letter or phone call is made to the homeowner that they need to contact the lender.

If nothing can be worked out between the homeowner and the lender the lender will put the property in pre-foreclosure....with notification to the homeowner. This is by mail....it is not registered or certified mail.

In the state of TN..the property is published in the paper- the first few pages of the classifieds----for 3 weeks and sold on the courthouse steps on the 4th week. I believe it is similar, if not identical, in most states.

In the current market, the lenders really do not want to foreclose as it will be a definite loss to the lender. They will work with the homeowner IF the homeowner initiates the desire to reach an amicable solution to the problem...of which there are many. BUT the homeowner MUST be the one to initiate the process. The lender WILL NOT initiate the process.

The other option, is for the homeowner to declare bankruptcy. This will stop the foreclosure process, allowing the homeowner to either delay and regroup their financing and start over, or the homeowner goes to the bankruptcy court and gives up the property and walks away from it.

Now.....this guy may not have realized that he had options....but if he spent $200K ( ::)) ...I would assume he spent it with a lawyer...he should have had good advice. Otherwise, he should have applied that money to his mortgage and foreclosure would have been a moot point.

For a fabrication....he must have thought he was talking to a bunch of Dummies ( :lmao:)....because quite frankly...the "yarn" he spun....wasn't knitted very well cause it's full of holes.   :loser:

In other words....the story he gave ....is full of  :bs:

I could go into more explanation of each of his statements.....but it would take a LOT more time and I would need to do it at another time.

Thank you, madam.

I think we got another one of them things evolving on Skins's island.

The clanging cymbals primitive would do well to get a hold of Doug's ex-wife for some tips on how to "manage" this thing.....the only problem being, Doug's ex-wife has erased a lot of memories about what she did, and so she might not have the tips handy any more.

If the house is sold, and he is still doing the lottery on it, shouldn't the Maui DA be interested in this?

Im assuming the Maui house is a second property and unless it changed ownership it would be an asset the bank could call to pay for the first property that is in foreclosure. Hiding it would be fraud and giving it away when it could be used to pay debt would be illegal as well. Moreoever, holding a raffle and not making good on the terms is a federal offense called wire-fraud.

Of course this begs the why have 2 mortgages when you seem unable to pay for 1 and why not sell the second to pay for the first and reduce monthly overhead?

But such things are trifling when it comes to blaming Bush...the first moral imperative in any liberal world free of personal responsibility. Odds are this is another fraudulent front to bilk more money through sympathy donations after the raffle has run its course as well as provide cover for why the pay-off on the raffle will never come due.

Tell me why we have to pay the difference because of failed policy that took our jobs away from us! There were no full time jobs in Florida for the last 2 years that my husband and I tried to find one. It is dirty to think that a-holes like AIG get bailed out and the little working guy has to pay their taxes after their life savings and everything they worked for over 40 years is gone!

82. Mine was this past spring
I know how hard it is.

There's something I've been wanting to say for a while now. Something I don't think many people realize is that if you are 2 or more months in the rears the bank (at least in my case) would not accept anything other than a full payment for the past due amount. I couldn't continue to make monthly payments or add extra every month to catch up. They stated that it had to be a money order for the entire amount, anything less than that or a personal check would be returned. Let's face it, if you're anywhere near the edge there's no way you're going to ever be able to cough up that much money. After 2 months if you can't sell it, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion. If you try to sell it you have to divulge that it's facing foreclosure. Once a potential buyer sees that you can forget about getting market price, the only offers you'll get are insulting.

I guess my point being that if you're a typical middle class family it's a very short fall from solvency to losing your house.

I had an insurance agent/mortgage lender try to talk me into an ARM back in 2005.  "Your rates start out like THIS... but then they turn into THIS after two years."

I got away from her as fast as I could.
