The real message behind the arrest of Blagojevich
Advertisements [?]The message comes from the banks, and it says, to the politicians, "You don't control us. We control you." This was a clear attempt to strike fire into any politician who dares to put up a fight against them. Third-world, Putin-style extortion and intimidation.

What Blagojevich did was wrong, but it's nothing surprising. Politicians dole out jobs as favors. Welcome to ****ing reality. Blagojevich might've been reckless about it, but that's all that separates it from what happens in probably most states.

I, for one, am not going to stab the governor of Illinois in the back.

2. He threatened BOA, in support of workers, and today...yeah, makes you wonder.
Something smells about this for sure.

5. The bank also agreed to give the company the money today
I had doubts early this morning but the governor is either on meds or is batshit crazy. You don't withhold state funds from a children's hospital because you expect a political contribution. If that allegation is true, I hope they throw the book at him. That alone was enough for me.

4. After YEARS of so called "investigation" why is the atty who dropped the ball on Executive Treason
CHOOSE to act "the day after" this Governor vocally supported THE WORKERS (LABOR)?!?

Again, there's NO coincidences in politics.

THIS stinks ... it's too convenient for Pro-Corporation Politicos within both parties of this right wing duopoly.

9. Yep
Not only did he vocally support the workers, he said the state would not be banking with Bank of America (or Bank of 1% of America) until they took care of the workers. The OP is right, it was a warning to any politico to watch it with the banks, they rule...

11. You're confusing cause and effect.
Blagojevich supported labor, for the first time in his entire ****ing corporatist low-life career, because he knew that the Feds were drawing in close and he wanted to get some support of some sort before it was too late.

You're swallowing it hook, line, and sinker. Blagojevich is one of the most pro-corporate Dems in America, and one of the most corrupt to boot. Why would you trust a guy who is on tape saying that all he cares about is enriching himself?

6. so also said the Alaska GOPers about there senator and state senate head
(the senator's son Ben Stevens); Er... whatever.

If one is going to abuse power to self-enrich - I will call it out.

I will be extremely offended if the decision of who should be the next senator is based on who enriches the governor the most, rather than who is fit for office. Shame on me for being apalled at such blatant efforts at self-enrichment and disregard to service to the people (per what matters for determining who is the next Senator from Illinois).

The governor of Illinois stabbed us in the back. The tapes indicate that the qualifications for senator had little to do with who would serve the people, and more to do with who could serve the senator - financially. I have been appalled at corrupt and self-enriching behavior of republicans - and I am not gonig to become a Hypocrite when it is a democrat whose behavior is abhorent.

Perhaps it is just that I have not become as cynical as you to suggest that one should expect such self-enrichment and corruption of all politicians and therefore not be outraged whether the actor is a D or a R.

14. I don't know what the real message is..
but I know enough to not believe that what I've read so far, is the whole story.

OK -- I have to admit it.

I was hoping that, as the Loyal Opposition we would enjoy throwing bricks.

It never occurred to me that I could laugh so hard watching the idiots throwing our bricks for us.

The election of the new fuhrer is one of the biggest tragedies in USA history.  But I just can't help myself but to laugh at the cross section of the fools that elected while they expose their basic stupidity.

The DUmmies could learn several messages from this if they would learn to listen.  One of the main one's is that PE Il Duce came out and said that he was disappointed in the actions of Blagojevich and that he didn't know he was like that.  Yeah.... right.  Their lord and savior will lie about anything.  Do you read where any of the DUmmies learned that?  Nope.
