Ear Worm of the Week

Eupher:
I cannot get this piece out of my ear.

Fabulous interpretation of Richard Strauss' Solemn Processional for the Knights of the Order of St. John (Feierlicher Einzug der Ritter des Johanniter-Ordens), composed in 1909. Arranged for brass ensemble, organ, and timpani.

The Order of St. John was a Christian military order formed in Jerusalem in 1023 to care for poor, sick, or injured pilgrims journeying to the Holy Land.

The score to the piece is displayed during the short performance.

RushBabe4Life:
Thank you for posting this. I just discovered MESUS about 2 hours ago.

I'm a GenXer. Was lucky enough to grow up in the 80s when hip hop/rap went mainstream. My parents didn't want me to listen to it, which of course made it that much more appealing. I stopped listen to it almost 20 years ago. It changed, it became so vulgar and all about gangsters, drugs, and hoes. Then about 6 months ago I came across Tom MacDonald and I'm hooked again. A couple of days ago I found Samson, and today I listened to Dictator by MESUS and The Patriot by Topher. These songs all have positive messages are pro-America and pro-Freedom. And they have great beats.

When I listen to all of this awesome new music I'm reminded of a thread that pops up over at the DUmp from time to time. Something like "what happened to all the great protest music" or "where are the protest songs from this generation". Would love to answer one of these threads with some of these artists. Somehow I doubt they would approve.   :naughty:

To keep with the OP theme, check out this ear worm, Propaganda by Dax, featuring Tom MacDonald.

Eupher:
Maynard Ferguson and a big band playing "Knarf" which is "Frank" spelled backwards. Frank Hittner is the baritone saxophone soloist.

Maynard's solo on trumpet is subdued, out of deference for this tune for Frank.

Recorded 1963.

Eupher:
There isn't nothing more rich than a trombone quartet. Plus rhythm, of course.

A little sotto voce, but you get the point.

Glen Campbell was still alive when this was recorded, and he was pleased.

Maniacal Four are four great trombonists, and this is a nice tune you'll enjoy.
