It's a late 90's (maybe a 96ish) 7.0 liter direct injection turbo diesel powerstroke. No intercooler but it does have a transmission cooler.
3 speed with overdrive(I don't like this transmission) dually and it's not a 4x4.
I lobbied against it (I am a cummins bigot) but he is a phord (gas motor) person. I also lobbied against the dually, he will understand when it comes time to rotate the tires.
We did go out and look at chevy 2500HDLT duramax with a 5 speed allison automatic which I really liked until I got to crawlin around under the truck and found a bunch of fresh oil on the transmission fluid pan and the cross beam just behind that. I probably shouldn't have been to worried about that considering that the oil filter is just forward of that and when installed is horizontal to the ground (which I think is stupid).
The truck looks great, no dents or scratches and only 141,000 miles. It has a goose neck hitch but he needs a 5th wheel hitch. It's also a crew cab with a long bed and west coast mirrors.
He's expecting upward to 20 miles per gallon, my truck is making 23.4 mpg and will do better then that when the weather warms up.
He's got a new camper that is significantly heavier then the one he had which is why he made the move. When he told me bought the truck I was like whateves, the deed is done and told him he needs to get his fanny on the Internets and learn how to keep a diesel engine alive.
Did I mention that I do not like this truck and would not have bought it?
