It's probably redundant, but I made a group for us folks from the Cave. It's called "The Conservative Cavers".

Privacy Warning for Facebook users
Unless you make changes to your privacy settings, Facebook will now allow Google to index your Facebook page. To change this, go to Settings --> Privacy Settings --> Search --> then UN-CLICK the box that says 'Allow indexing'.

Just so you know the "public" part is what has kept me away. Not that I post a lot and I certainly don't go out of my way to argue with trolls but a mostly anonymous message board is much different then all the info available on FB.

OK, I set the group settings to "secret". Potential members will have to PM me through the board to obtain an invite. Whatever email address is used for Facebook, they will have to let me know or send me a link to their Facebook page.

I refuse to "like" anyone or anything on fb. It might be paranoid, but just by looking at someone's "like" history you can probably reconstruct their entire lives. I could grab some fool (like my nephew) and pretend to be him and be able to answer damn near any critical question, from DOB to Mother's maiden name, likes, birth city, etc. etc. etc.
I have a fb account in a variation of my RL name -- it in NO way is linked to FD2003. I use that account to look at other fb activity and that is it.
If the cc fb is private only I guess I won't be seeing it...

Members of the facebook group can invite other cavers via email.

ANY of the admins can add you. What we need is the email associated with your Facebook account. If you're "friends" on Facebook with one of the admins, that's even easier. Just let one of us know.

I didn't see Ballygirl listed on the CC page and I don't know her real name.

Prior to timeline, Facebook stalkers would have to manually sort through pages and pages of wall postings to find out the personal details of your Facebook activity. Timeline drastically simplifies this process.
