What the NFL needs to do when the deplorables come crawling back.

The pea-brained deplorables who burned or canceled their season tickets will undoubtedly come slinking back to the NFL. American Football is, after all, their favorite mind-numbing opiate.

When they do, the NFL needs to greet them (and all their future customers) with a statement that they must sign as a condition for their purchase in which they condemn all forms of racism, police brutality, and discrimination against religious minorities and LGBT people.

This would probably be more of a symbolic victory than anything else, but at least it would serve notice on these people that they are expected to at least acknowledge a certain standard of public decency. After all, no normal or correct thinking person would ever object to signing such a statement.

Riiiight, this is how you treat customers.

But wait, all NFL fans are 1%ers!

those who can afford to pay for all that crap mostly support republicans over tax breaks and other fiscal issues. they don't really care about the anthem and who stands .

I realize DU-folks' frame of reference is their failed flashes-in-the-pan boycotts of CfA and Hobby Lobby, but those were quarter-baked attempts to respond to some single "outrage" (e.g. the late Truett Cathy's comment about not supporting single-sex marriage). I think NFL fans' outrage has been building over the past 5-10 years, with disrespecting the country being just the latest outrage. That is why I think the NFL will be hurt by this - assuming they don't back down - perhaps seriously.

LPC Noob's vision of "pea-brained deplorables" "slinking back to the NFL" is his/her :stoner: -dream.

On one front, I almost agree with the one DUmpass.
But it's not a conservative thing, it's a lazy, complacent American thing.
They will all yap and scream, but inside a few weeks, they will be right back to buying 200 dollar NFL jerseys and buying NFL sports packages from their cable provider.
Few people have actual conviction anymore, and the left BANK on that in order to survive.
