William Daley to step down as Obama's chief of staff
« on: January 09, 2012, 02:30:00 PM »

William Daley is stepping down as White House chief of staff and budget director Jack Lew is taking over the President Obama’s team as it heads into a tough election year, senior administration officials say.

Daley gave his letter of resignation to the president in a private meeting in the Oval Office last week, recounting the administration's successes of his one year on the job and saying it was time for him to return to his hometown of Chicago.

President Obama made the news official this afternoon in a brief appearance in the state dining room of the White House, where he told reporters in somber tones that he is sorry to see Daley leave. ...  http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-william-daley-to-step-down-as-obamas-chief-of-staff-20120109,0,1505407.story

Holy smokes, Valerie Jarrett must be rabidly squeezing the eyeballs right out of her Daley voodoo doll in a fit of rancid glee.

I can't wait for Daley's book to come out and you just know there will be one.

I heard on Chicago radio that he's going to help Axelrod head up the re-election effort from Chicago.  Can't come up with a link, perhaps it was just speculation.

I've heard that as well.  I think it is just fodder for the real reason.  It was repeatedly reported that no one in the administration was listening to him because he actually did propose pro business ideas.  I think it became obvious with the recess appointments that Obama is veering hard left and will only pander to his Progressive base.  Just IMO.

Yeah, he's the old school corrupt democrat. Doesn't fit in with the commies.

Frankly I don't understand the hard turn to the left. Generally Rats try to look centrist just before an election.

I'm kinda thinking that just maybe Obama really IS going to go Hugo on us.

If Obama went Hugo it would briefly make the DUmmies happy.  At least until the reality of the situation set in.

Quote
Citigroup stint shadows Obama's new staff chief

As chief operating officer of Citigroup Alternative Investments, he helped run the company's proprietary trading business (aka casino). Among the unit's job-creating strategies, one was to bet against the housing market, which other parts of the banking giant had helped inflate.

The Citi division ultimately lost billions. As for Lew, he naturally made big bucks during his three-year stint at Citi, including a roughly $950,000 bonus in 2009 -- after the company's federal bailout.

That, in turn, reflects the ease with which Washington hands like Lew shuttle between the Street and the Hill. Case in point: Lew's predecessor as budget chief, Peter Orszag, left the agency and joined Citi as vice chairman of global banking. A job in politics is no longer a back-door to a lucrative job in banking -- it's a red carpet. The revolving door keeps spinning.

So is Jack Lew a dedicated public servant, or an unreformed pal of Big Finance? Because you can't be both.

How does Obama square this with the Democratic Party's support of Occupy Wall Street?  He can't.

Those dumbasses will vote for him anyway.
