A glance at the final betting markets for the 2022 midterm elections

(1/2) > >>

Ralph Wiggum:
Which Party Will Win The House In The 2022 Midterm Election?

Republicans: -2500

Democratic: +850

To explain, a person would have to wager $2500 on the Republicans to win a measly $100. A $100 bet on Democrat control of the House would earn $850.

Which Party Will Win The Senate In The 2022 Midterm Election?

Republicans: -330

Democrats: +235

Much tighter regarding the Senate, which we might not even know the outcome of until December if Georgia heads to a run-off.

More races available here, but Americans cannot bet on such things. Unless the rules have changed in Vegas.

If memory serves the gamblers tend to have a better grasp of what the final outcome would be.

Definitely, as do the outfits that set the betting lines. It is a very serious science, especially since Vegas casinos don't just build themselves. There's always a built in house advantage.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 90% of money wagered legally is done by "professional" gamblers. Or degenerates if you please. While all these FanDuel & DraftKings and other online legal betting places draw a lot of attention because of their relentless advertising, it is mostly $5 to $20 dollar bets that people make at such sites. People who bet like that don't affect betting lines. The Houston guy "Mattress Mack" just won $75 million picking the Astros to win the World Series. He had to spread his wagers amongst multiple sports bookmakers to even do so. But he's a perfect example of the professional gambler I was referring to.

Mattress Mack (Jim McKingvale) is legend down here.  Truly.  He does a lot of gambling.  He'll wager with his customers!  He will run advertisements on the Super Bowl, once the teams are picked, that say "buy a minimum of $5k of furniture and pick your team to win, if your team wins you owe nothing."

He's spent millions at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on champion animals.  He does a lot of good in the community.  He's an interesting cat.  I met him at his store one time ... guy barely looked up.  I think all he knows how to do is WORK!  Funny thing about that story, the guy selling us furniture was a guy named Bob Newhart.  We weren't interested in meeting Mack, but he insisted.  A few months later Mack's store burned down.  A lot of it, but not all of it.  It was arson.  The arsonist was caught ... it was Bob Newhart.   :rotf:

The shit hit the fan early this morning in Maricopa County. Tabulators broke down. Where have we heard that one before?

It was reported that Katie Hobbs, the AZSecState running for Dem Gov, didn't even go to work this morning. She's the one in charge of elections and she couldn't even bother to punch a time clock.  :whatever:

The Repubs have already lawyered up, so get some popcorn ready 'cause the show's about ready to begin!

Just don't bring that Kraken character in. She puked all over the floor the last time and left a stinking mess for some poor bastard to clean up.
