I was reading something the other day that Nagin had asked for help but if I recall correctly he and the governor did not want it when Bush offered it early on.

Ex Gov Blanco botched Katrina so bad that she did not run for a second term. I doubt that she could run for dogcatcher and win. She prevented Bush and FEMA from intervening, and Bush wound up with the blame for her and Nagin screw ups. She is a sorry POS democrap who was more concerned about her image and politics than helping those that got flooded out. She belongs behind bars with Nagin.

In contrast, just look at how well Obama is handling the "Sandy" crisis. He flew in just days after the storm and told everyone what a great job he was going to do for them. See the difference between him and Bush.

Do I really need to add a sarcasm tag to that?

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

What I don't understand is why after Obama's dog and pony show they still voted to reelect him again --talk about stupid

I always thought Kathleen Blanco was the one who really screwed up. More so than Ray Nagin. They are idiots.

Wasn't Nagin the one that left all the school buses to flood while waiting for limousines to take his people to freedom?

They should have had a mandatory evacuation prior to the storm coming.    But every time one of these storms pops up, people think they can ride it out.  Sandy is an example.

One thing governments can and should do, is make people who live in these areas fully aware that they need to have back up plans for if and when these things occur and not expect the government to save their a$$.

Yup. He could of use the school buses regardless of what the governor did.

Blanco did not like Bush or Republicians. She played politics and wound up a disgraced Governor who had an approval rating probably in the teens. Nagin was just a stupid sprocket who hid out in a downtown hotel. Neither one had any idea of what to do.
