Iran Revolutionary Guards ready to escort Gaza ships
« on: June 06, 2010, 06:24:01 PM »

"TEHRAN, June 6 (Reuters) - Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards are ready to provide a military escort to cargo ships trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza, a representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.

"Iran's Revolutionary Guards naval forces are fully prepared to escort the peace and freedom convoys to Gaza with all their powers and capabilities," Ali Shirazi, Khamenei's representative inside the Revolutionary Guards, was quoted as saying by the semi-official Mehr news agency.

Any intervention by the Iranian military would be considered highly provocative by Israel which accuses Iran of supplying weapons to Hamas, the Islamist movement which rules Gaza.
The Guards, with their own navy, air force and command structure separate from the regular armed forces, are seen as fiercely loyal to the values of the Islamic Republic.

"If the Supreme Leader issues an order for this then the Revolutionary Guard naval forces will do their best to secure the ships," Shirazi said. "It is Iran's duty to defend the innocent people of Gaza.""  Linky

Well, get ready for Zer0's administration to throw Israel under the bus in three, two, one.
Just an idea for how to get rid of that bitch Helen Thomas-send her ass to Palestine as Lord Obama's personal envoy for life.  More about her comments I will not say. :censored:

WWIII started in 2000.  Most folks just don't know it yet.

Maybe even back to the Iranian hostage crisis. Carter gave the Muzzies the idea the US was a paper tiger.

This is Obama's war. He bowed to these mad ****s and pounded Israel into a corner.

Unfortunately it will be US troops--whom he has always held in contempt--that will do the dying for his insane idealism.

I hope they're mad enough in Teheran to go through with this. They'd lose, and lose badly. These will be Iranian warships we'll be talking about. They'll be 100% legit targets. They'll be dead men floating.

Hi,

As many of you may know I subscribe to many investment newsletters.  When a government is up to their ass in debt one way to deflect the focus is to start a war.  If BO steps aside my guess is the Iranian will get their ass handed to them.

I am to the point that I feel like you do when your favorite football team is in the super bowl.  After the bullshit gets eyeball high, time to kick off and let the games begin.  More than one person is now saying we could have an internal revolution in the US.  Wish to hell it would start while I am young enough to contribute.

regards,

More bluff and bluster, unless Iran is willing to drag their little tugboats through the sand to Syria and launch from there.

The Iranian Navy is little more than a coastal defense force, and once out of sight of Iran, couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, even if the Chinese were selling them all the arms they could buy.  They might TRY to hold off a choke point like the Strait of Hormuz, but they'd be telegraphing their move so far in advance that only the most dithering of leadership would fail to react in time.

Obama is C-in-C?  Oh God, we're screwed.

But seriously, their only hope of closing off choke points would be mines (which Thor knows all too well) and MAYBE their Kilo boats, but they only have 3 at last count, and our 688's are getting awfully good at keeping track of them and their other coastal diesels.  The Iranian Navy, for all the threat they pose to the Gulf, cannot project power like the US Navy can, and would get their asses kicked, much like the Russians did during the Battle of Tsushima...all that way to get your head handed to you.  Yeah, I'm thinking not.

I think Iran feels emboldened by all the condemnation directed at Israel from most of Europe and every other country in the world.

If they do try this, Israel needs to make sure the Iranians fire first.

Doesn't matter.  Even if Iran does fire first, world opinion will still lay the blame on Israel.

Yep, but they still need to do it, and have cameras going the entire time.  I'd go so far as to say they webcast live online if there is a confrontation.

Wouldn't surprise me if they had AWACS coverage 24/7 once the Israelis knew something was going down, and our E-2C's in the Med would likely be doing the same at a safe distance.

The Iranians have already stated they want to wipe Israel off the map. So, if my enemy gets withing shooting distance, I want to fire the first shot, sink the ship and let the survivors see if they can swim ashore. To me, letting the enemy get in the first lick is retarded.

Attempting to break it at any rate. Turkey and Iran could do it, but I wonder how many other countries would throw in a "representative" vessel?

The Turks, for all their posturing and their slide towards radicalization in the last few years, wouldn't dare do that without quitting NATO first.  And none of the other Arab states have a Navy worthy of mention.  Remember, the Egyptians tried playing that game in 1973 and got their asses handed to them as well.

And I sincerely believe that at the end of the day, despite what Obumbles might think personally, he knows if he abandons Israel he is well and truly ****ed.

Well this isn't going well.. Our Dear Reader is on Iran's side. I just hope Israel has the firepower to do some damage to the peace loving gaza flotillas and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Israel loses either way politically. If they don't stop them the blockade is over. Palestinians will smuggle whatever they want. If Israel fires a shot, it will be portrayed as the new NAZI Germany in all the headlines. Obama will side against them and probably use words like "war mongers".

If it's a "lose-lose" situation, the Israeli Navy might as well shoot.  Keeps supplies that would benefit terrorists from killing Israelis.

Quote
Obama and Hamas
By Ted Belman
President Obama is not letting the flotilla crisis go to waste. He is using it as a springboard to change U.S. policy regarding Hamas. In his words, uttered in a recent interview by Larry King, "Time to move forward and break out of the impasse," and "the status quo is unsustainable." Totally aside from whether it is really unsustainable, one need not wonder how Obama intends to break out of the impasse. He will bring Hamas in from the cold.

It was recently disclosed by Aaron Klein that
The group behind the Gaza flotilla that engaged in deadly clashes with Israeli commandos today counts among its top supporters the friends and associates of President Barack Obama, namely the founders of the Weather Underground terrorist organization, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, as well as Jodie Evans, the leader of the radical activist organization Code Pink.
Barack Obama should be included in this cast of characters.

The anti-blockade movement was promoted by a Turkish "charity," IHH, which has been designated as a supporter of Hamas by both Israel and the U.S. One of the backers of this "charity" is Tariq Ramadan, who was banned from entering the U.S. due to his financial support of Hamas. Yet Obama believes that "Turkey can have a positive voice in this whole process."

In April of this year, Obama's administration lifted the ban on Ramadan. A week ago, the Guardian ran this headline: "Hamas leader says American envoys making contact, but not openly." And this was before the crises.

But the Obama-Hamas connection goes way back.

From BizzyBlog comes evidence that Obama's church not only has anti-white, anti-American feelings, but may also have a pro-Hamas bias. The July 22, 2007 Trinity United Church of Christ bulletin reprinted an article written by Mousa Abu Marzook, deputy of the political bureau of Hamas. Originally printed in the LA Times as "Hamas' stand", Pastor Wright added a new title, "A Fresh View of the Palestinian Struggle". The Times was criticized for giving a "Platform To Genocidal Terrorist." Where does that leave Obama's church? Marzook is a known terrorist and created an extensive Hamas network in the United States."

For the time being, the rockets being fired by Hamas are few and far between, perhaps because Hamas has a friend in the White House. Instead, Hamas has been planning, along with friends of Obama above mentioned and Brennan, deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism, to break the siege with a flotilla...and to make sure to create a sufficient crisis to enable Obama to chart another course more favorable to them, they planned a violent confrontation.

Well, they could go out and around the Arabian Peninsula to come into the Med via Suez, I doubt they have much of anything that can do it unrefueled of course, but they could probably work out a fueling stop in Yemen at least.  Still, since Egypt controls the Canal, and is itself blockading Gaza, it creates a very unique and interesting set of circumstances!

Sure way to lose a fight is wait until the other guy hits you first! Not many men can stand up under a strategically planted first punch, ( usually right above the left eye ). Once you're knees fold, you're toast!
