White House apologizes for NYC flyover

"President Obama's White House was forced to issue an apology Monday after a photo opportunity gone badly wrong — an Air Force 747 plane did a low flyover over Lower Manhattan, prompting terrified citizens to flee from their offices and high-profile accusations of government insensitivity in the post 9/11 era.

White House Military Office Director Louis Caldera issued a brief statement saying he was too blame.

"Last week, I approved a mission over New York. I take responsibility for that decision," he said. "While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, its clear that the mission created confusion and disruption. I apologize and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused."  WTF?

Is there no limit to the ego of Dear Leader?  Let's fly a huge jet, low over NYC followed by two fighter jets just for a photo op. Surely no one will have a problem with this.  It's not like the citizens of NYC have ever seen anything like that happen before have they?

City , state and local authorities knew?  Why the hell didn't they tell everyone else?  I'm sure news networks would have liked to have known to cover the story without alarming everyone.  :banghead:

The incompetence of this administration still amazes me. At least Carter survived long enough to witness a president worse than he ever was.

Someone made a great point in the New York Post comments section. To the Democrats, 9/11 wasn't a big deal. After all, America asked for it because she is an evil Jesus-loving capitalist country.

So if it's not that big of a deal to them, of course they wouldn't even consider the feelings of others surrounding that time. They assume since Obammy won, everyone must agree with them now.

According to the USAF and FAA, yes.  Most eveyone still refers to the aircraft by that name whether Uncle Eg0 is on it or not.

I heard that when Richard Nixon had resigned and was on his last flight on AF1, they had to use a civilian call sign.
