Clinton Ex-Campaign Manager Backs Obama

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An aide to Barack Obama says the man who led former President Clinton's 1992 bid plans to endorse the Illinois senator.

Obama's campaign plans a 1 p.m. conference call Wednesday to announce the endorsement by David Wilhelm, who later became chairman of the Democratic National Committee. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement would be made public later in the day.

Wilhelm plans to tell reporters that Obama can build a coalition of Democrats, independents and Republicans needed to win the general election. He also says Obama can bring the change he promises—improving the economy and ending the war in Iraq.

Wilhelm is a superdelegate from Illinois who was previously uncommitted in the race.

wilhelm wasn't exactly the most prominent member of Team Clinton, but this is exactly the sort of news that hillary did not need right now.  and it is also an example of the full court press that The BarackStar! is putting on the superdelgates.

but is The BarackStar! so alien to reason that he thinks that he will get any republicans to sign on to a platform that involves abandoning the war on terror immediately (no matter what that may cause), universal health care, universal college education, and a staggering tax increase to pay for it all?  does he really believe that?  you see this "building a coalition" line of crap out of him constantly.  does he really think that those cheering crowds of zombies are republicans?

^he's counting on it. Just like I posted in another thread, his message is depressing and dangerous. He's all about correcting "injustices". He's full of identity politics and sticking it to the Conservative White Man (who is the root of all evil apparently).

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I've said this time and time again...personality has SO much to do with how we elect the POTUS. And, like Dixibelle has said time and time again, too many people want an American Idol type election and leader instead of one that has substance.

When you compare B.O. to Hillary and John McCain, he looks and SOUNDS VERY charming, charismatic, and smooth. His personality is "likable". His voice and mannerisms when giving his speeches are compelling. I believe that is why he is a magnet to the people.

Once it all gets the full exposure, things might change, for HIM.

He is likable, but he is a BIG time socialist. NO true conservative would fall for that regardless of how smooth he is.

it's all TV's fault*.  we can no longer tell the difference between celebrities and our political leaders;  they all show up in the same box in our den.  THAT is what is dangerous.

*well, that and the liberal educational establishment that has worked feverishly for over a generation to turn us into a country of drooling morons.

thus the conundrum.  they can't listen, and even if they did, they are so addled by their indoctrination into the mindlessness of american culture, and rendered incoherent by the merciless hammering away by the liberal educational establishment on anything that even resembles critical thought, that recognition of the poison that is coming out of their TV is simply beyond them.

^tell me about it! I hardly watch TV but I have seen Jay Leno's bit on the Tonight Show where he goes out on the street to ask passersby simple questions like, Who's the Vice President? The stoopid is strong....

regardless of the public education in this country, parents are still capable of discussing who the president and vice president are with their kids. no matter what age..

Which just makes it even scarier. I'm shocked at how clueless some people are! Even adults who probably had a better education than the public schools offer today.

It's sad, high bar for entertainment has been set in our society and it apparently has supplanted the need for common sense. (heh, I was going to say Critical Thinking, but I BTDT  :lmao: - eh free?)

A headline like that illustrates the down side of having the same last name as a past President.

 :rotf:
Go and tell the Spartans, O traveler passing by
That here, obedient to their law, we lie.

Anything worth shooting once is worth shooting at least twice.
