Limbaugh Responds to Obama
« on: January 24, 2009, 03:58:32 PM »

Quote
...This morning I asked Rush for his thoughts on all this, and here is his response:

There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters? Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this.

Secondly, here is a combo quote from the meeting:

"If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective.  Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts.  It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward.  It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing "eternal" power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.

and there you have it.  Rush always can hit the nail on the head and he has Obama pegged so perfectly.  He is absolutely right making it about Rush is throwing the focus off the real agenda.

Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals:

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

We've got to pay attention. The GOP didn't and look where it got us.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Of course, Limbaugh nailed Obama's motivation.

Worth noting, also, is something RL said: "Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing 'eternal' power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy."

Absolutely.

And everybody on both sides of the aisle know this.

Should the Democrats win out in this, then make it easier for illegal aliens to become citizens and then make it possible for convicted felons to vote, be they in or out of prison--that coupled with all the redistributed income of ours to those who won't work or don't pay taxes--that could put the majority living off the government's teat above 50 percent.

That happens and anyone who's not a Democrat, liberal or leftist will never get elected to the White House. And Congress could well be controlled by the DLLs.

That happens and truly, it's Taps for America.

This is now becoming very sickening. And vindictive on the part of the DLLs.

You wonder: How is that they became so hateful and so anti-American, anti-liberty, anti-majority?

dragging limbaugh into the conversation could be viewed as an amateurish mistake.  he lost the spin on his message to some extent or another.

Lowering the Office of the President to taking petty pot-shots at a radio jock is dumb, but again did we expect any differant??

interesting question.  to a large degree, I'm not really sure what I expect out of the obama administration.  he has no history, no track record;  nothing to really base expectations on.  I thought it was a little surprising that he stepped in it that badly, though.

Its like in the radio business when you have the new overnight kid taking pot shots at the morning show crew from the number one station in the market.

I have never really been much of a limbaugh listener, but he obviously gets under the skin of dem presidents.  clinton made a similar mistake after his party got pasted in the midterm elections in 94.

I had no idea that rush was so formidable. :-)

The guy's a megalomaniac, narcissist of the highest order. He takes Limbaugh personally and, it looks like, sees the threat that Limbaugh and his brand of free conservative speech present. And, yes, it was amateurish -- stupid -- of Obama. Wonder where his handlers are?

BHO's reaction doesn't surprise me, though. But what does is how easily he can apparently be distracted. It's become a pattern now. This, his grabbing that reporter on the shoulder, etc.

But the guy's a product of that sewer called the Chicago Political Machine. Mabye this is how they do things there? Don't know. But, wow, you'd think that by now Obama and his minions would understand that he can't break wind without someone reporting it.

As someone said elsewhere, maybe on this thread, when they meet, Putin will eat Obama's lunch. But I suspect there'll be others dining at that open buffet.

Not good for America or Obama.

well, we already know that he doesn't do well away from his teleprompter.  and I think you nailed it with your narcissist comment.  the man certainly thinks very highly of himself.

He's credited with the 94 Republican Revolution that put Newt in power.

They made him an honorary member of that Congress they felt so strongly about it.

He certainly is by Newt...who turned out to be a bit of a narcissist himself, and made some crucial mistakes, ultimately overplaying his hand.

I'm glad Rush responded to the president's remarks before his Monday show. This sends a clear message that Rush isn't going to cower in some corner just because he's been insulted by The One.

By doing so, however, he's probably motivated Congress to pass The Fairness Doctrine faster than they would have initially.  :whatever:

I'm not so sure about that.  It was pretty high on their to do list to begin with (to hear some of them talk about it anyway).  I also think passing another version of the Fairness Doctine may backfire on them in 2010 elections.

With the advances in the internet and now satellite radio, the impact might not be as pronounced as the original anyway.

The only reason I pay attention to anything that goes on in Washington is because of Rush. No other person has ever been able to so accurately reflect what I believe. I stumbled upon his radio show in high school and am so glad I did. He opened my eyes to a lot of BS that was already starting to creep into the public schools at that time. Listening to his show was like therapy during my college days.

I'm telling you, were it not for his show, I would probably be just another ill-informed Obama voter, or not a voter at all.

It was his passion that inspired me.

I listen to Rush on occassion.  I agree with a lot of what he says, though at times he can be a bit "over the top" from time to time.
