As a conservative I believe that we are indeed all created equal; however what happens afterwards is completely up to us.

Conservatism to me is protecting what we, as a country, hold dear. Opportunities exist. Whether or not you get off your lazy ass to take advantage of them is up to you. I also believe this is the greatest country on Earth. I'd like to conserve that, not be a f'n liberal and see it changed in a fashion seen in Europe. I thought we escaped that shit before.

and thanks.  I tried this same thread shortly before the paulista invasion, and I got crickets chirping.

what I meant to say exactly was that conservatives prefer individual liberty to equality enforced by government, especially the central government.  even if the individual makes poor use of his natural liberty.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.  conservatives hate change.
