My frustration with the media: they read off of the GOPs ham-handed cue cards

something weird with our corporate media. Whenever there is some incredibly oafish move by warmongers and fascists that they expect the media to react a certain way, the media (almost always) complies.

The latest example is the Barr PR spin. Barr lies to the world about what is in the Mueller report (and even says the report does not exonerate Trump), and the media get that they are supposed to react as if A) Barr is telling the truth and 2) Trump is exonerated. Coverage for weeks afterwards proceeds from these two premises.

Where are contrarians in the media? The people who say "wait, is that really true?" and fact check the rest of the media? I guess they have all been fired (or not promoted) and we are left with dumb, ovine, talking faces who have the sense to detect what it is they are expected to say, but not the additional critical thinking skills to ask the meta questions about who benefits, and what if they are being lied to.

GOP: Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. We expect the media to freak out and demand war. Media: will do
GOP: Funding civilization is the same as "socialism" and will lead to collapse. Media: Venezuela, Venezuela, Venezuela, Venezuela!
GOP: John McCain is a noble truthteller (even though his votes are by and large despicably GOP). Media: Saint McCain!!
GOP: Hillary Clinton is *suspicious* and *evil* Media: What is she hiding? How can we trust her?

etc, etc, ad nauseum.

I want what you are smoking so i can be in la la land.  :whatever:

Seeing CNN and/or MSNBC chyrons and sometimes their close-captioning is part of every gym visit, ~5 days a week. That claim is utterly ridiculous and stupid. With that as context, I wonder what good thing Trump did that the MSM had to report more or less spin-free.

That has to be one of the stupidest statements I have ever heard. Capitolism " funds" civilization not the goobermint with our hard earned tax dollars. :thatsright: :mental:

Obviously DU-member ProfessorPlum hadn't noticed that McCain's last 17 or 18 years as Senator was characterized by back-stabbing Bush and Trump and caving to Obama. Rs' views of McC range from adoration to blaming him wrongly for causing the fire on the USS Forrestal, far more complex. The MSM were generally chummy with McC - mutual schmooze - but in 2008 they set him up to be defeated easily by Obama. McC never figured out what they had done to him. MSM praise for McC when he died was motivated and scripted by MSM Trump-Hatred.

Strange irrelevant question: What would CNN's ratings be if hotels didn't have CNN on in their breakfast rooms and gyms didn't have CNN on their overhead TVs? One could ask the same of Fox. of course, but I suspect CNN would be affected by such a change far more than would Fox.

Don't forget airports. They have their own special news channel for airports that subscribe to their services. As a matter of fact they supply and maintain all the equipment as part of the monopoly.
