I want to know: When did Bill Clinton become everyone's asshole?

Personally, I did pretty good in the 90's; not fabulously, but it beat the years immediately prior.

The debt was headed down, the yearly budget deficit, for one brief shining moment, had actually turned into a surplus.

Many, many positive things had happened, and some issues were breached for the first time on the national stage.

In the depths of the last 7 years, many here, referring to him as "The Big Dog," mourned for his past presidency, and more than a couple were actually heard to say that maybe SENATOR Clinton MIGHT follow in his steps.

Then came the Winter of 2006/2007. What in the ever-lovin' blue-eyed HELL happened?

Here's the appearance of a newcomer with, let's face facts folks, 2 years of Senate time under his belt, some State work in one of the state in the country most known for cronyism, and a couple of pretty good speeches, ALL OF A SUDDEN Senator Clinton is, well, we've all heard the epithets, and former President Bill Clinton, the former darling of DU, is, well we've all heard THOSE epithets as well.

Can you say TURNCOATS? HYPOCRITES? What did they actually DO to raise the ire of half of the people here?

Well, Senator Hillary Clinton actually DARED to follow through on running for president, and in opposition to the New Rock Star.

What's WRONG with you people? You don't have to SUPPORT Senator Clinton, but this demonetization is similar to the worst of the "Site which shall not be named."

Go Ahead, support your candidate, but there are warts on both sides of the race, and the shit I've seen here is so far over the top that it makes me wish for political collapse so Democratic Socialism can maybe get a foothold.

People, you are demonstrating the same bullshit that has affected the party since the fractionation of the Reagan years: Cat cannot be herded. If we expect to win in November, and mark my words: it will NOT be a cakewalk; it never was, then we'd best COMPETE without shitting on each other.

Too much damage has been done already. I don't expect this to stop, and it scares me to death, because President McCain is not a scenario I relish.

One wonders if the compulsively-prevaricating burdened primitive's heard of this place yet.

It's a massive bonfire, full of all sorts of primitive Hate, but alas ends:

Actually, believe it or not, yes.

The compulsively-prevaricating burdened primitive has expressed those sentiments many times.

Socialism is a short-term answer to a long-term issue that creates more problems than it solves.  Social Security is at least half of the Federal debt, but we "have" to have that because the program was created by a Democrat.

Social security should have been phased out along with the rest of the New Deal programs that went with that era.  Sadly, we are still with it.  :bs:

I really doubt he'd like the kind of Socialism that would take hold (if any did) in those circumstances, since it would, shall we say, have a "Nationalist" character to it....

There is no such thing as Democratic Socialism.
Socialism by its definition flies in the face of human nature,no matter how much Marx and other utopian dreamers refuse to believe it.

The only way any pure form of socialism can be made into an economic system is at the point of a sword by an all powerful central government.
It has been tried and is called communism and it exists by forcing all to the lowest standard of living and freedom that will allow each other to co-exist.

There is no other outcome that is possible.

You know, one has to be careful for what one wishes.

I just finished a book about the war in Germany in early 1945, east of Berlin.

There was a story there about some middle-aged woman, very hirsuite and manly-built, who had been a Communist since the 1920s, and henceforth an enemy of the German regime.

Her "wife," a little bit less hirsuite and manly-built, was of the same persuasion.

This was in a tiny village east of Berlin.

As the Red Army approached, both of them secretly cheered on the invaders coming to liberate them.

Well, we all know about the conduct of the Red Army.

Both women were violently brutalized and raped by their saviors.

One has to be careful for what he wishes.
